Best CD writer?

the plextor 12/10/32 with burnproof
or maybe the new tdk 12/10/32 with failsafe(equivalent of burnproof)

dc:

If the TDK's failsafe works as well as the burnproof, it will definitely be a better buy if it comes in a lower(or equal) price and faster ripping speed.

Hi there,

After reading these posts I got a question now.. Which is better the TDK or the Plextor. I believe the TDK is said to have 24X audio ripping. Dunno about the Plextor. I am also looking at quality and how long they can last. I had a Yamaha SCSI for about 2 years before it gave out on me. Wanna get a new one. Looking at the TDK and Plextor IDE... Or should I go SCSI again??

Thanks,
Vic

If you still have your SCSI "set-up", by all means get a SCSI burner. I own a Plextor(IDE) and I believe they make the best burners. Check out user reviews @www.resellerratings.com on most of the major manufacturers. Good Luck!!

I knew this had to happend before the end of the week,

Anyway, the best drive is the Plextor 12/10/32 A, whithout a doubt

Best article I've read on which CD burner to get. Titled: What CD Writer to get article

3-page article. On the last page, the conclusion, it says this:

"The Plextor PX-W1210TS is the best writer money can buy at this moment. If you got the money for it... buy it. But remember, with the addition of BURN-Proof and JustLink the IDE Plextor PX-W1210T and Ricoh MP9120A are a good (and cheaper) alternative to SCSI."

LXi:

yeah, i haven't seen prices for the tdk yet, if it is considerably cheaper than the plextor, it would be a better choice.
and i don't know how fast the plextor rips audio. 🙂

Right now you gotta wait for the 12x Plextor SCSI BurnProof. This drive will hit the market anytime now. It's won't be that much more than the Plextor's IDE version and it's gonna rawks.

heh, if it's scsi, you won't need burnproof, i guess plextor is just giving it features because some people buy for features no matter how useless it is. 🙂

Does anybody know if the TDK firmware will support the reading and writing of subchannel data like the Plextors do.

I have the Plextor 12/10/32 drive. I haven't opened it yet as I am waiting for the other stuff for my computer, but on the box it says that the software that is included does 24X audio ripping from music cds. I got mine at Buy.com for $258.95.

The best bar none is Plextor 12/10/32 w/ BurnProof, you can get it IDE now, and SCSI soon.

If you want price/performance then look at that Yamaha's they make a damn nice drive to, and it's not as expensive as the Plextors.
Personally I don't give a crap about burnproof and my 8x8 Yamaha was 2/3s the price of a 12x10 plextor, but the plextor is the best, epsecially if you plan to do alot of burning (I don't do much, that's why I went for the yamaha)
