Best CD to MP3 encoder.

I am looking for a program to transfer CD tracks to 128K MP3's.

EAC/Lame. Learn how here. This method create VBR (variable bit rate) MP3s that are very good quality and not very large. Best MP3s you can make (quality/size wise that is).

Definitely. I use EAC/Lame exclusively for ripping my CDs to mp3. It is ALWAYS good to have backups. =)

I used EAC/LAME...used CBR 320 though...128 just doesn't cut it for me...

I have heard PlexTools Professional is now better than EAC...if your are using Plextor hardware...

That bestmp3guide link is overly complicated.

No other programs and cfg files are needed. If nero or some other cd burning is installed, chances are aspi is already installed and working. I don't know what the cfg file is doing but its probably setting secure mode, accurate stream, c2 features which might not be supported.

Just download EAC and run autodetect or consult drive specs and set it yourself.

Using this method ensures the MP3s are ripped perfectly, 100%, no less whatsoever. It also defaults the MP3's bitrate to VBR. The best MP3s you can create.

Question: Would EAC/Lame also be the best choice for CD to FLAC to MP3? Does EAC even support CD to FLAC?

I know I could google this stuff, but I can't right now. Any info is appreciated, thanks.

Make sure you read the FLAC part...I don't know if you like to skip ahead like myself but I did and got confused by the screenshots because I failed to read first.

My vote goes to iTunes. Menu: Edit > Preferences... > Advanced (tab) > Import (tab): Import Using: <MP3 Encoder>; Setting: <Good Quality (128 kbps)>
