If you were burning a CD with the best songs of all time on it, what would the songs be?

Previous post just sparked my interest.

Why would you need to make such a CD?

The beatles did this a few months ago with their "1" album.

(Kinda kidding of course, since I'd never be able to narrow down a list myself)

I dunno but it hit my friend and I last night about how it was weird how House Of Pains "Jump Around" is still a cool song...seems like a song that would get old. BUT IT DOESNT

Don't know about "the best," but compiling a 20-song CD (not looking as to whether it would even fit onto any CD at all) of my fav's (songs I'd least tire of, and like to hear most) off the top of my head:

Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin
Master of Puppets - Metallica
Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd
Gimme Shelter - Rolling Stones
Love Me Do - Beatles
Spirit In The Sky - Norman Greenbaum
Shout - Tears For Fears
No More Tears - Ozzy
Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
Let's Stay Together - Al Green
Holding Back The Years - Simply Red
Emergency - Kool'N'The Gang
Groovin' - UB40
Jamming - Bob Marley
You Know How We Do It - Ice Cube
Regulate - Warren G
Blackened - Metallica
Enjoy The Silence - Depeche Mode
Blue Monday - New Order
What Is And What Should Never Be - Led Zepellin

Of course, no care as to any order, either by genre, mood, etc. :)

This is just contemporary rock, I could never pick my favorite songs from all categories:

Deftones - My Own Summer (Shove It)
Tool - Ticks & Leeches
Nirvana - Lithium
System of a Down - War?
Prodigy - Climbatize
Disturbed - Violence Fetish
Weezer - Say It Ain't So
Deftones - Passenger
Tool - 46&2
Mudvayne - Nothing to Gein
Korn - Fagget
Papa Roach - Between Angels & Insects
System of a Down - Peephole
Mindless Self Indulgence - Played
Prodigy - Breathe
Staind - Outside
Orgy - Pantomime
gODHEAD - I Hate Today
Korn - Shot Liver Medley
Deftones - Birthmark

I could come up with at least 100 though.

Nice to see Nirvana on the top 100 List....Nirvana was a cutting edge group well before their time
