Best Case

Ok guys, im curious, i have had many arguments with people over the best value for money case, and sorry but i feel the Antec 1200 in my opinion to be one of the best cases ever made, i dont personally own one, but from what i seen it has a brilliant design with 2 x 120mm exhausts, and 3 x front 120mm and then a big boy 200mm or 240mm 🙂 i mean that said is CHRONIC, esp in comparison to a CM Cosmos or summin like that, so why does every1 keep going on bout the cosmos etc if the Antec 1200 has a much better airflow? or am i incorrect and that the Cosmos design is in fact better and i just dont know it? Plz lets hear ur guys feelings and experiences on this 1

Neither are really close to the best value for money IMO. Best value for the money (cooling emphasis) is the Antec 300/CM Centurion 590, no doubt

Considering that I don't want an enormous case with bright lights the 1200 is poor value for my money. That's just me.

The case of choice depends on what you intend to put inside it and how you use it. There is no ONE BEST CASE, only one that best meets your specific needs. Almost everything else about your system needs to be locked in before looking at cases. I'm one that believes that a case like one of the Rosewill R5600 series (my fave from the series right now is the R5605) can meet most needs from modest to pretty high-end gaming with some good fan choices. The Rosewill Conqueror models (same as the Silverstone PS01) may be options as well. Most of the rest of the Rosewill line of cases are much lower quality than these

The top bezel on the 690 doesn't flow well so considerable top exhaust air just recircs back into the case thru other openings in the top. A little modding can make it flow better (open up those things that look like vents to make them actual vents, etc.). The 590 has no top bezel, so as delivered it can flow better in some ways.

The 590/690 have the same cooling scheme as far as I can tell, but the 690 has a bezel above the top two 140mm fans, which can't *help* airflow, so I'd say the 590 has better airflow, but only just

So is there a way of me modding it sumhow to ge the better airflow? Bcoz like i said sumwhere else, im running mostly 2000RPM Thermaltake fans through a fan controller, and those 2 are creating a suction effect in my case bcoz the strong fans are blowing out mostly, like the 2 120mm fans are blowing out, so cant i cut summin or whatever and get the airflow good again, bcoz i actually got rid of the dust filter by my HDD 120mm fan bcoz it was decreasing the volume of air so significantly i actually dropped my HDD temps by 8 degrees just by cutting out the filter 🙂

I have been on the virge of trying the R5605 for a while now... I have done a build with the CM 590 and really liked it. I do not think I need fans facing up, though. and the vents on top may invite more dust than the R5605 would, which does not have the top vents. I was able to route cables underneath the MB tray of the CM 590 and I positively want that ability in my next case, as my current case does not have the greatest cable management. Is there enough room undernearth the MB tray of the R5605 to route cables?

I use to agree with ya but my daughter showed me the light on commercial high volumn cases. For water cooling this is a fantasic case . easily fits 3 rads. 1 3x 120mm 2x 120mm rads. It was incouraging for me to watch her put that system together. Maybe my time wasn't wasted.

Its not the star yet . But soon many will see the value of this case.

I am a little bored .Being stuck in the house all the time sucks. I have completed my work on our case . So I decided I will order this case and set it up with our dragon side window and install 3 rads without pump. I will try to sell it to an AT member for my exact cost . No laber no additions my flat cost. I will do this with 1 case only . just so the buyer if any can give you guys feed back. It is impressive. I won't sell to anyone but a AT long time members someone you all trust.

gba,
. There is some space to hide cables along the back side of the storage stack, but behind the mobo pan is pretty shallow (< 1/2") and access points to it are rather limited. Gotta remember, this case was designed before tidy cables were an issue for many. I'm not sure whether I tried putting the HDDs into their rack backwards, but it might be worth a shot to move their cables outta sight. I mess around with my drives enough that I like the cables where I can get to them.

Thanks zepper... too bad about the mobo pan... Not necessarily a deal breaker for me, but I do like hiding excess cable underneath it... I, too, like having the HD connectors facing forward so I can get to them.
