Agreed 100%. I'd also like to add that looney tunes used a lot of classical music in the background. Research has shown that listening to classical music at an early age increases intelligence. Hence, one of the reasons why our generation is so much smarter than these younger generations.

hmmm...makes sense to me.

:D

Right now I'm really enjoying Legend of Korra (Avatar "sequel"). I'm pretty sure that's the one and only cartoon I watch.

I have to say the old Super Friends was my favorite though. As a kid I loved it, but as an adult you realize just how absolutely ridiculous it is and it ends up being really funny. My brother and I can still sit and watch episodes and completely enjoy it.

Edit: WTF I forgot Johnny Quest!

the early 90's were fantastic for cartoons. Warner Brothers resurgence in animation was phenomenal and brought a slew of fantastic new content to the scene. Add to that the rise of the Cartoon Network when they started their own content in the mid to late 90's and the huge rise of quality Anime in the US, i would say the 90's were the best decade for cartoons period.

Dont get me wrong. I love the old old old stuff from the early 20th century. Lots of charm and fantastic characters in its own right, up through the 40's and 50's.

I was never all that into the Hanna Barbera stuff, though a lot was good stuff. Who doesnt like Scooby Doo?

80's cartoons were junk for the most part looking back. I saw a small sliver of Robotech when i was 4 and it hooked me instantly. I never knew what it was till years later.

Simpsons, without a doubt. I judge it by how often I can re-watch the episodes and still find it fresh and get laughs out of it.

Baby boomer contributions:
- manned space travel

The baby boomers were in their teens at this time.

- atomic energy

This had been worked on for decades before the baby boomers existed, and there were nuclear reactors in the 50's.

- the computer

Uh, which computer?

- cell phones

The baby boomers were probably responsible for most of the streamlining and mass production of cell phones, true, but that applies to any technology.

- scanning tunneling microscope

Wikipedia is telling me you're two generations late here.
- DNA fingerprinting

Ok.
- The Internet

Ok.

- Reality TV

Even if you're limiting this to Survivor and other such contemporary reality game shows, the current generation was in infancy/wasn't born when this started.
- ARM mortgages

Pretty sure teenaged people didn't invent ARM mortgages. :hmm:
