the MSI 5900XT is actually a pretty decent deal, because of the software bundle, they even include the full version of Mlorrowind.

EDIT: I've purchased a Radeon 9500Pro Retail. I was almost about to pull the trigger on the 9800Pro, but just couldn't come off that much for the card. The benchmarks I've seen are close to the 9800 so that is good I guess.

Thanks for all the help from you guys/girls! I appreciate it!

its a good card and will have no problem at all running ut2k4 but i would think it is somewhere along the lines of 25-35% slower than the 9800 pro on average

btw, where did u find a 9500 pro retail for that cheap?

Why not buy a 9700 Pro, it has pretty much 9800's performance for a superb price. If you cannot get one new, buy a used one...

I would never recommend a 9500/9600 in that system though, if you consider you little more you pay for the real deal 9700.

im glad u actually found one!!!! theyre pretty hard to come by....but u will not be disapointed....i wasnt.

my 9500pro is still goin strong...althought it can never become a 9700...its can easily run at 9700 core speeds all day long!!..check ur memory rating before u overclock (if u gonna)
mines got 3.3ns so my limit is 303mhz...runs fine.

it was the best 130 quid ive ever spent!!!!!!! and i love the fact it can whoop the 9600pro and even the 9600xt! in some benchmarks

i dont think ATI or anyone else will ever make a mid range card this good at good price again!

The 9500 pro was such a good mid-range card, because it used 8 pipelines, it was similar to the 9700 in many aspects.

ATi's drivers don't distinguish between a 9500 or 9700: the card is listed as 9500/9700 series in Windows, AFAIK. Maybe that's why your cousin thinks his 9500P is running as a 9700? It already is a 9700 in every way but memory bandwidth, and you can't change the memory bandwidth if the memory chips on the card are all in a row (rather than in two pairs forming an L shape around the core).
