Best card for around $200

I'm building my own PC and was looking for the best gaming card I could get for around $200. I'll be using AGP. I wanted to get the MSI 9800 Pro, but it's been out of stock for a while at Newegg. A couple of days ago it was back in stock for a few hours but I didn't have the money to get it. Besides Newegg the lowest I can find it for is apparently $215 shipped. Are there any other cards I could/should consider or is the 9800 Pro pretty much the best I can get for around that price?

Not sure about the Nvidia cards, but you should be able to pick up a 9800 Pro for around $150 used from the FS/FT forum. A lot of users are selling theirs because of the 6600/6800 craze.

I really like the Radeon 9800 Pro, especially with the latest ATI drivers. Zippy fast at high resolutions, even on the very latest games. But don't spend too much on one. You can probably find a good deal on a used card, as BlueWeasel suggested.

6600GT PCIe is a lot cheaper than 6600GT AGP at the moment. Supply and demand is a funny thing, don't you think?

To ease the suspense, here's a quote: "Compared to the $200 - $300 AGP cards available today, the GeForce 6600GT AGP can't be beat."

Vanilla 6800 is 300 bucks 😛

you mean around $250
😛

Thanks guys. I'm now convinced to get the 6600GT fomr everything I've seen and read, from actual reviews to prices I've seen. I'm just going to wait until early January or such (for one, to make sure I have plenty of money to perhaps go ahead and get my processor as well), just so the price will be about as low as I'm going to get it, since I won't want to wait much longer.

The only thing I'm concerned about is the few companies that have 6600GTs out. Are any of them really reliable right now, or should I wait until a more respected company puts one out?

6800NU $250 @ Outpost.com

Now, why didn't you look at the other 92482048039284023080 threads asking this EXACT same topic??

all this is true. but he left out one fact, the 6600GT is in the same price range and its faster.

but he was talking about a Used 9800 pro card that's you should be able to pick it up in the Forsale forum at around $150. Sure the 6600gt is faster but you can not get a used one for that price.
