1996 Lincoln Town Car Signature

A 1985.5 - 1991 Porche 944 Turbo/S2/S would be about that price (@ about 100,000 miles). Sure 100,000 miles might seem like a lot, but you have to figure that it was pampered (if you buy from the right person), and probably is in better shape than most 20,000 mile Geo Metros.

'96 - '99 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight LS (LSS = Supercharged) or Regency

Big, comfortable, quiet, great gas mileage, low insurance cost. Low mileage car can be had for ~$8k - $9k.
Payed $6k for mine with higher mileage. Runs smooth.

I dont know about you but I got a 99 hyundai. Its nice being in college knowing that I wont have to pay for anything major while I'm here. I plan on getting something better later after I graduate and get some real money.

Sounds like you're looking at a Honda Civic/Accord, Chevy Cavalier, Ford Escort type car, right?

ya... well I was lookin into a 1998 BMW 328i for 20K with 50K in mileage and lease it since they lease certified used cars... however when I got the quote the total lease was for 13K cause they insisted the residual value would be only 6K for some reason. So I E-mailed them back about it and got another quote from the manager which was even higher than the original. You'd think a 1998 328i with 85K miles would still be able to be sold for @ 14K especially with 1995 cars being sold today with more miles for the same. Anyway.... they are just tryin to take me for a ride so I'm gonna tell em to take that offer and eat it cause there is no way I'm gettin ripped off like that. Too bad I couldn't get them to believe the residual value of that car will be well over 6K in 3 years and try to negotiate like that

- 98'ish Camry
- 98'ish Accord
- '00 Hyundai Sonota
- '96-98 Nissan Maxima
- '00 Nissan Altima

My votes for "best buys" for the price range. You'll get more power and options if you go the Pontiac, Nissan, or Hyundai route.

2001 Civic LX.

First thing that comes to my mind. It would be about $12,000, I suppose. You should know that a $12,000 car with little to nothing down on it needs to be paid off at a rate that's, oh, just, um, ahh, slightly higher than $160 per month.

Doesn't economics say that the best car in that range will keep raising it's price until it's just about $12,000. Now look for cars between $11.5k and $12k. I'm glad I could help.
