T3's was horrible. In fact, the whole movie sucked.

The Bourne Identity had a pretty good one, as did The Transporter

Yes, that's right. The Transporter chase was pretty good. He was driving a BMW IIRC.

It's got to be Blues Brothers. They actually drove 120mph down the streets of downtown Chicago.
In Bullitt, McQueen himself (not a stunt driver) at those speeds in downtown LA. Plus, the car he was chasing lost between 6 and 8 hubcaps in the scene as it was finally edited. :D

Downtown SF. :p

I agree w/ the Bullitt selection, though. '68 Charger + real speeds + McQueen + 'stang fastback.
I love the bit where the driver of the Charger buckles his seatbelt right before trying to ditch McQueen. ;)

Why am I the only one to mention French Connection? Have you guys never seen this movie? It's well known to have the best car chase in cinematic history. :p

Yeah, French Connection is good. I wouldn't say it's generally considered to be the *best*, but it's always mentioned in the top 3 or top 5, usually in the same breath as Bullitt.

It's sad that there's only one mention for Vanishing Point as well -- that movie's nothing BUT a car chase.

Another one that isn't your typical chase but still notable would be The Duel.

I second that. They also destroyed A LOT of cars which makes it cool in itself.

Hah, The Duel. What a great flick that no one has ever seen. Spielberg's first, right?

And i think it was top gear that stated that they broke the mustang like 3-4 times while doing it..;)

Also, wasn't Matrix 2 done with some Gfx help? IMO, any chase that has a PC doing the work and not a driver don't count..(though do note, i don't know if any or if all fit into that catagory).

Bah, all California is the same to a Midwestern boy like me. :p

And the sound, oh the sound. Two classic pushrod V8's rumbling, gotta love it.

I know it got broken a few times in the movie, but I hadn't heard that all the times were in that chase filming. That car got absolutely beaten on.

Yeah, Road warrior deserves honorable mention.

I'd forgotten about Bourne Identity. I really loved that chase in the tiny car, thats got to be one of my favorites.

The way they filmed it was cool too -- there's an article about it here. They took a stripped-down 'vette chassis with a camera mounted to it and followed the cars at speed with it.
