I've already decided that I'm going to get a pair of Kenwood KFC-W3003 subs. I found a seller on ebay who has a bunch of car audio auctions, and a lot of feedback and he's selling a lot of stuff below retail. The name is Scala1. I'd like to buy all of my stuff from him to possibly get a discount. Anybody deal with him? Anyway, what type of amp should I get to power these bad boys? I was going to buy a Rockford Fosgate, but they seem kinda expensive, and I'm all confused about the bridged and other such terminology that goes along with the amplifers. Help me out :)

Crutchfield has last year's Rockford amps on sale. The one in the link is rated at 40W x 2, but is more than likely easily pushing 60W x 2 RMS, and probably 200W x 1 RMS. Should be enough to drive the Kenwoods.

edit: bridging is basically just combining two amplifier channels into one more powerful channel.

i have the same subs, except 2yrs old, and 10"
i run them off of a 500w jensen(not funny) amp.
i would look into a kenwood amp, or pioneer, clarion, fosgate..
i'd stay away from sony tho.. sony's car audio is the sh|ts

I can guarantee you that 600W rating IS NOT RMS.

Kenwood WF3003 at Crutchfield. 35-160W RMS. And, they've got them on sale--buy one get one free. What kind of price were you getting on eBay?

RMS?

so you dont need that much power...good..cause i haven't seen many amps that are rated for 1200W :). How much power do you think I need? Sony's amps look real cool, but I've read (and you confirmed) that they kinda suck...

$70 each shipped...ill have to see how much shipping is at Crutchfield, cause that may be a better deal. I can't believe how badly those retail stores rip you off!

hmm crutchfield seems to be just as good of a deal as ebay. I'd probably be better off buying from them.

yes--their customer service can't be beat, and they will give you any help you need with installation. Shipping will cost you 9.95 for 2-day express.

edit: Sony's Mobile ES equipment is damn good stuff, but it's pricey

A REAL sub :D

15mm linear excursion compared to the Kenwood's 9mm, 21hz resonant frequency compared to the Kenwoods 32hz. Only needs a 2.6cf vented box or a 1.2cf sealed box....ahh yes...350watts RMS per coil....the 5 year guarantee says so :D
