If your into rock and country type stuff get the E2C but if your thing is classical or opera get the E3C ..

I love my E2C's and would not give them up for anything.....well maybe the E5's ...😉

i used to have etymotic er4p canalphones with the s adapter. they were good. i upgraded afterwards to the shure e5cs. they're good too, but not worth the $350+ imo.

e2's are a waste now, since i've seen the e3's for $112 shipped, but for a little more you can get the E4's for $180 shipped. i picked up the e4's yesterday, and they are probably the most balanced canalphones i've heard. I auditioned just about all the canalphones i could (i didn't get to try any UE's or Westwood's🙁) and the e4's were the winners for price/performance. The Ety's were close, but the E4's went better with my playlists.

e2c's can be had for about $65 from buy.com.

Amazon has them for $65 too. Mine are coming today. I'll update to compare them to the EX51's sometime this weekend.

I have a pair of E2cs and they rock my world. Had I bought a pair now I would have just sprung the extra money for the E3cs.

Got them yesterday. Much better than the EX51's. I didn't really notice a lack of bass when properly inserted but hitting the sweet spot was harder than with the EX51's (probably because I am not used to putting them on yet). It's not like a worlds above better sound than the Sony's but I am hearing things in songs that I never heard before. What really makes them worth it is the quality. Much thicker cables and sturdier design than the Sony's but it comes with 18 sets of tips. The medium rubber ones like the EX51's worked best for me.

Maybe should have went for the E3c's but this is good enough for now, plus the iPod really does not warrant a $100 set of phones being its sound quality sucks overall.

Thanks, Chris. I have to tweak the treble up slightly on the EX51s to make it "perfect", but default flat sounds fine as well. I really have to bump up the highs a bit on all audio equipment I listen to, in order to be nice and crisp. Working with loud machinery my whole life has taken its toll.
