hmm, when it comes to backpacking, I prefer my Pentax K5 (weather sealed, magnesium body, etc) Not sure about you guys, but my backpacking experience has revealed lots of dirt/dust/grit which gets involved in the camera body. Why not future-proof yourself and eliminate the worry of getting shit wet/dirty while out on trail???

By the way, I don't mind carrying my K5 with a DA 16-45mm lens and a DA 55-300 tucked away in the pack. Go out and buy a binocular strap and attach your camera to it... keeps it out of the way, allows both hands for trekking poles, and easily accessible when needed.

Pentax makes some good stuff, but the OP's budget is $200.
