Best Buy's "Premier Black" Program

Crono

Lifer
I just checked my email, and apparently I have been invited to Best Buy's "Premier Black" program. Here's the email they sent:

"We?d like to welcome you to the Best Buy® Reward Zone® program at our most elite membership level - Premier Black.

Premier Black is a pilot in select areas that rewards our best customers for shopping at Best Buy stores."

Judging from various sources, it looks like they mistakenly sent this email out to every Best Buy Rewards member, and not just people who spent over $5,000 in the past year. Can anyone else confirm receiving this email? Even if I was really invited, it doesn't sound that great... except maybe for free shipping. I'm not really buying the "elite" member thing. If it were elite status on AnandTech, on the other hand... 😛

I did not get it and I am a Rewards member. Though I would be shocked if I hae spent $100 in BB over the past 2 years. 😛

I got it also ... I was kinda like, wtf made me qualify for this, I've only purchased a few games because of it.

Well lets see... that would be... 1 HD monster cable?

I received the same email and frankly was confused why. Only thing I have bought at BB ever since I got a rewards card was an Apple Airport Extreme router.
I figured they must just have really low standards for what they deem "their best customers for shopping at Best Buy" lol

Okay, I haven't done anything with the email.

Are we supposed to do something or are we automatically upgraded?

I'm thinking this is probably a mistake. I actually went to the trouble of resetting my password, logging into my reward zone account, etc. & I'm sitting at a standard account - not even silver.

On the bright side I have receipts for probably $4,000 worth of stuff that I never got the points for so I suppose I could submit requests for those...

Viper GTS

Got one as well. I've spent maybe $1,000 in the past year and that includes a computer purchase. I was wondering how I qualified for it. Logging into my account I'm still at standard. Guess it was a mistake.

got one and have probably spent maybe $200 there in the past two years...I did buy an open box HD DVD player for $65 (had 300 and bourne in the box and I received 5 movies in the mail two months later - only got 2 of the ones I selected though) and then they sent me a $50 gift card...

i've bought maybe $750 - $1000 worth of stuff (got it when i bought a laptop), and i got invited. maybe it's more about your location? i live in the san francisco bay area

OK, looks like they owned up to their mistake in an apology email:
"
The Best Buy® Reward Zone® program is always looking at ways to make our program even better for our members. Today, you may have inadvertently and inaccurately received the below message during an initial email testing process. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience or confusion. You continue to maintain your current membership status. If you are eligible for the Reward Zone program Premier Black test that will run in a limited number of select markets, we will notify you by a separate email. If you have any questions about this or the Reward Zone program, please visit www.MyRewardZone.com or contact our Customer Service Center at 1-888-237-8289. Thank you. "

I'm glad I didn't get my hopes up or anything.
