Best Buy,WTF?

So, I was at BB earlier today, looking for a cheap video card, and spotted a fairly decent deal on an open box 7600GS. Problem is, the card didn't look right through the cutout in the box - I checked inside, and needless to say, it was some old ATI AGP card, probably made back in the days when dinosaurs still roamed the earth. I notified a sales drone, but he didn't seem to give a crap about it at all - just said "yeah, OK" and walked off, didn't even take the box off the shelf. What the hell is wrong with BB? Why don't they let someone who can tell a video card from donkey's ass (no pun intended) handle the returns, or at least inspect the stuff before tossing it back on the floor? If they don't care about their profits, can't they at least think about all the customers who are getting screwed over when they buy open box stuff? I know they can trace it back to the scumbag if he was dumb enough to use his credit card, but I highly doubt it'll do them any good if they don't bust him while he's doing the return - "it was fine when I returned it, must've been one of your people."

1st post?

Video cards and HDDs are notorious for having old/broken items returned instead of the actual hardware piece. Most customer service people don't know 1 video card from another. That is assuming they know what a video card even is.

What is gonna happen here is that some poor soul who is not as careful as you and doesnt check the box is gonna buy it, get it home, open it and get refused when they try to return it.

BB sucks.

Well at least you weren't posting to say you had bought the card. It wasn't too long ago when someone here bought a POS hard drive from fry's and had hell trying to return it.

What the hell is wrong with YOU shopping at BestBuy for ANYthing "cheap"? lol...

edit: Bring that box up to Customer Service and demand to see a manager, that will at least get the ball rolling on getting things done the right way.

I'd call up their corporate office and complain. Of course I'd do that AFTER calling up the local news stations.

Heh there was that guy here who posted when he bought an Ipaq from Office Depot and when he got home it was just a bag of sand inside. OD wouldn't take it back.

It's happened to me before, exact same thing, except with a network card

when i brought it back they basically (as expected) accused me of stealing. Those fvcks.
