june 28th I finally got my $50 dollar rebate.. I now think rebates are crap and I'll avoid them

this was on that visiontek gf3ti200 I bought for 150 .. came with 50 rebate so total is 100.. well took 7 months for my rebate

should be a law to protect us

on the check it looks like it was issued back on April 15th

sorry this was suppose to go in rebate tracking thread.. if mod can move it I would appreciate it

I don't buy at BB any more, espcially when it comes to Rebates. I'm still waiting for the $40 InetCam bundle, Since 11-23-01.
Staples, I never had a problem with them. More than 20 rebates per year, and they all came.

you better cash that check ASAP. there is probably some fine print on the check that says "expires in 60 or 90 days"

I finally e-mailed directly to visiontek and complained, got my rebate less than a week after that, its the only rebate I have ever really had a problem with.

I got mine back in Feb....I called and told them I was moving and wanted ASAP...they said they were having problems with the mail facility b/c they used the same one as the Anthrax threat was at. Then I got a run-around that she *could* send it...but couldn't guarantee anything b/c "typically your rebate has to sit in the database for a few weeks before it will be able to be sent." HUH?!?!?!? Whatever...talked to a mgr..and it was sent and received it in 5 days.

if you are still waiting, you might want to go here and check on the status. my rebate was showing up as denied saying that i had used the same receipt for multiple rebates, which was total BS.

if your rebate is showing up as denied, you might want to give them a call @ 914.633.0663 or email them customerservice@wheresmyrebate.com. calling them was more effective.

Ok

What I did was call the 1800 best buy rebate telephone number after XXX amount of days passed the 6-8 weeks or whatever. They were very good - I had all my info photocopied. There were a few rebates that I was missing at that time - they called each of the companies (visiontek was one) and checked on the status. I got my rebate 1 week after the call.

All my rebates from the after t-day have come in - the memore, the visiontek card, the cdrw, the cds, and whatever else I grabbed that day - I was number 5 in line so I got everything on my list)

Call the best buy number - should be on a receipt somewhere.

good luck!

I call BB about six weeks after i send the rebate form, and complain to them that my rebate heven't come yet. the guy on the phone actually connects the phone directly to the comapny who handle the rebate, we speak three party and have everything straight up. within next few days my rebate arrive. i received the rebate check at about 11th december 2001. not too shabby I think.

but honestly, I'm really surprised that some of you guys just got your rebate now.

I got mine in May. I called 3 times. The first time, they told me it was processing, the second time, it was approved for payment in a week, then, a month later, I called again and strangely enough they said the check was scheduled to be mailed that day (even though the web still said approved but pending).

This was the shadiest rebate that I've actually tracked down. I've had some in the past that just didn't get paid, and I didn't bother on them, but this just smelled funny the way they handled my rebate.

I feel like deja vu all over again. I seem to recall reading the comments in this thread some time ago, but the timestamos are all from today.

Any, thx for the info. I bought this board on clearance for $130 w/$30 MIR. If/when I have any problems, I'll use the contact info provided.

Rebates suck. They always have. They just seem to suck harder now.

Initially the whole rebate model was dependant on the percent that wouldn't take advantage of it. That in itself makes for a method that is a bit shady. Think about it. YOU the consumer now have to jump through hoops just to get the little bit of YOUR money back that the manufacturer/retailer told you the WANT to discount! They could just as easily given that small percent back to the distributor, then given out to the retailer after the sale. The only problem is that the retailer would want every penny and want it quickly.

The fact that rebates aren't actually being delivered timely (if at all) becoming more in question, seems to me just a small part in the evolution of a questionable practice. Get used to it.

The more people that buy products on this agreement, jump through all the rebate hoops, forget about them as the MONTHS go by and finally NEVER capitolize on this questionable practice.............................the more the cycle continues.

B&M has had plenty of discussions on this topic. I got mine over 5 months after I sent it in (and after a solid month of calling). It's very crappy service. Bordering on false advertising, etc...

Just remember to keep copies of everything and be aggressive about calling them back, or just don't do MIR deals. I know it sucks, but that's the way it is these days.

I actually emailed general info at Visiontek, didn't see the rebate one I don't think, but either way it probably got to whomever is at the rebate address. Hope everyone here who hasn't recieved theirs yet gets them soon!!

its not the BB rebate ... it's the New Rochelle watever rebates.

i sent in my rebates on time and they came like 6/7 months later (the 30 dollar cdrw one and the 50 dollar gfti200 one). rebate experience was terrible ... called into BB and they tried to connect me to Visiontek, which was busy. tried their number on my own a number of times ... always busy. called BB to three-way them again ... and they were busy again. i gave up the calling thing because it didnt seeem to be working well at all. my rebates came a month later though. i guess thats okay but im wary of sending any rebates to that NY facility now.

You are correct that it is the New Rochelle rebate center that the Visiontek rebates were mailed to. This is the same center that makes the CompUSA rebates such a nightmare. I had to make numerous calls to BB and the New Rochelle center to finally get my VisionTek rebate. For my CompUSA rebates that never arrived from New Rochelle I had to make copies of all documentation and go to my local B&M store when the district manager was in and then complain. Finally got those rebates..but it took 8 months. My rule is if the rebate is mailed to New Rochelle...I take the attitude that I am lucky if I see it in 6 months without a fight.
