Best Buy trying to screw me

I don't know what to tell you, other than if it wasn't for the Internet you wouldn't be having buyers remorse.

Every display has it's own set of "problems" and no display is perfect.

Please tell me you paid with a credit card. They sold you a defective product and refuse to make it right. Your credit card company will make it right.

Wow.

I  our Toshiba Cinema Series 50" DLP although it's non-LED and only 720p.

I'm looking forward to connecting our new LCD

QFT, why didn't ya open it up before leavin' man? I'm sure they were as sick of you as you were with them, and would've found ANY way to get a look at the TV before sending you on your way.

I'll probably pick up an HD set on Black Friday to hold me over until the 2008 models come out. Something cheap and nice, like that Sharp Aquos line or something.

You'd think I'd tear into the box and set it up the same day I received it. It's been sitting in our kitchen for almost a week! I'd like to clear some area in our 2nd bedroom and take pictures of the unboxing to setup.

Keep an eye on the Black Friday forum here. Hopefully the BB/CC ads will be leaked soon.

I doubt they'll have a Sharp Aquos on sale but there might be a Westinghouse, Olevia or Polaroid on sale.

What exactly are you looking for? Would a 37" 720p LCD for $549 hold you over or are you looking for the cream of the crop Sharp/Samsung 40" for around $1,200 ???

Here's an interesting thread to read - What's coming in 2008?

Agreed. Even this particular set suffers from The Screen-Door Effect which thankfully I'm not too sensitive to. I guess all DLPs suffer from this. It's one of those things that most people would never even notice unless it's pointed out.

It's the only sensible thing to do.

I think I'm gonna go for something in the 37"-42" range. I'd like to get 1080p, although for a stop-gap set, a $549 720p set sure sounds tempting.

Thanks for the link!

What's your video source OTA, cable or satellite? If it's the latter two, I would go with a cheap 37" to hold you over for up to 1 year. You should be able to sell it for close to what you pay. As for the $549 figure I just pulled it out of my ass. I've seen the Olevia 37" for $599 at Fry's Electronics, so I just deducted $50 to make it more BF worthy.

You're welcome for the link 🙂

I've got Comcast HD service. Around here, Comcast 1080i HD broadcasts aren't very good at all. 🙁

I'm gonna miss gaming on my 61" DLP, but I'm sure I'll get used to a 37". 🙂

The first set you received worked perfectly.

Now you've spent God knows how many hours driving back and forth, borrowing your friend's truck, schlepping around a big screen, wasting your friends time, arguing with Best Buy employees (which is slightly worse than a papercut on your eyeball), etc. All because of some dust and a few missing accessories?

A wise person would have used that to their advantage; I would've demanded a sizeable open box discount from the manager for the dust and the missing accessories, then called Samsung to get those items replaced for free.

What Best Buy store was this, BTW?

Yeah that's the thing about this whole fiasco. The first set was near perfect. 🙁
This was the Kingston, MA Best Buy.
