Best Buy to start price matching online stores

Was Best Buy's rule still 'we'll match any price!*'

'*in a printed ad if they have the item in stock'

I somehow doubt they're going to just start matching everything. There will be some major caveats.

Starting on March 3, the retailer will price match all local retail competitors, along with 19 "major online competitors" in all product categories, whenever a customer asks for it

Here is the full list of big online competitors that are included in the price-matching guarantee:
• Amazon.com
• Apple.com
• Bhphotovideo.com
• Buy.com
• Crutchfield.com
• Dell.com
• Frys.com
• hhgregg.com
• HP.com
• HomeDepot.com
• Lowes.com
• Newegg.com
• OfficeDepot.com
• OfficeMax.com
• Sears.com
• Staples.com
• Target.com
• TigerDirect.com
• Walmart.com

pretty sweet, but what's to stop one of those 19 from totally price bombing best buy? I assume Best Buy has to have some safeguards, like "site must have item in stock"

Ours has been doing it since before Christmas, they'll even match smaller online stores like ncix. I've taken advantage several times. BB is my go to local store now.

Newegg.com?

NEWEGG?

You mean they'll finally sell videocards for reasonable prices? How bout some free game vouchers too...

.com, but will they match local B&M prices? 😕

I have those bolded B&Ms within 5 miles of the local Best Buy. ^_^

Me thinks this RAISES their revenue. Note the goal is to stop "showrooming" which nets Best Buy ZERO revenue for those purchases

Not only lose revenue, but possibly cost them money IF they actually have sales reps spend time with a customer.

They started doing that around Christmas-ish here (Canada)....

That doesn't entice me to shop there more often, unfortunately. I now have both a BB and an Amazon rewards card with roughly the same amount in "dividends" or rewards as a proportion of money spent.

I also live very close to an Amazon fulfilment center (warehouse/shipping center), so everything takes about 2 business days to get here without Prime. Having to "haggle" with price matching, produce proof, show up at the store, deal with staff just doesn't do it for me if Amazon has the same product.

I have used a couple times. If the vendor you are price matching charges shipping then they well ad that to the final price. Pretty nice to be able to get newegg prices without the wait.

When I was looking for a new monitor last fall, I went to BB to see one in person...Not only did they offer to match Newegg's price, they threw in a 4 year warranty.

It's the first thing I've bought at BB in about 10 years.

i bought a camera and mem card pricematched from amazon @ BB. i bought a case retail there because it was a reasonable price / couldnt find one to pricematch (amazon had diff cases but still the same price range).

I never wanted to step a foot into BB before this. I would rather usually go to Target electronics section if not able to buy online for whatever reason.

Now im looking for a new LEDTV and ill get it locally at Best buy as soon as some slickdeal is available at the store. So yeah, it's nice to shop local. just pay the tax, but for some things, i rather pay the tax then deal with return shipping or etc.

It sounds like they will be reducing the Return window when they add this policy across the entire company.
I've been seeing "15 days" thrown out there quite often. And, iirc, there may have been some talk about post-sale price-matching being killed off, too.

They have been doing it already.

Found a dishwasher > Sears had it for $420, Best buy $480.

Next day Best buy had it for $360. Didn't even have to match anything.

When I got to the store it was even 30 dollars less. $500 dishwasher for $330.

Not bad
