was that retail ??? it was a OEM Dell pull with dead ram. I bought that for a friend, he wanted to see if he could fix it since I'm not a big ATI fan.

The other 9800 I bought was from toad. It was retail and I bought that for the same friend. That card worked good and preformed pretty well, so thats why I tried an ATI for a change

Whether or not that's true you have to admit that particular heatware does make your situation a little bit fishy.

Circuit City IMO has much better customer service than Best Buy. Even when you buy Best Buy's warranty, you NEED TO KEEP THE RECEIPT. They do not keep your complete information on the system. Circuit City tells you they keep your name and address and info on the system so you don't need the receipt. In my experiences with Best Buy, I will never make a major purchase at the store. Too many bad experiences and memories.

Toad doesn't know how to fill out a heat eval. 😛 Something seems fishy.

I know, you left heat for him the right way. They heat he left for you implies he bought something from you. That was not the fishy part, the fishy part is the fact that you keep buying 9800pros and some are dead, went dead, or whatever and are now trying to scam BB.

I got 2 for my friend..1 good one and 1 one bad one
the good one worked so well I decided to try one for my brother.

Best Buy scam ?????? WTF ?? This is MY first ATI card and I get it and its junk. I want my money or a new card for my brother. I already have a 6800 Gt in my own setup

You're obviously trying to scam Best Buy. The worst part is, you're trying to get us to help you. Let me see what I can do to fvck you over.

I see you passed 2nd grade

Here is my analasis of the situation: You bought a card which a few days later died. You *somehow* "lost" the receipt... Now you want BB to bend over backwards and change their store policy to suit your needs? I really don't like people like you, who feel the world owes them....it's called responsibility. Cards sometimes die, it happens; most people save their receipts...let me try that again....most smart people save their receipts. You screwed up.....that's it plain and simple. I say eat the $250+ because you're an idiot. I wouldn't do that in your situation, but then again i wouldn't get caught in your situation. Good luck with whatever you decide to do, moral or immoral.....

What the hell ? Why is ths turning on me ? I bought stuff on here for a friend, hes a hard core ATI fan and I got what he asked for. First the dead Dell OEM 9800 Pro, the way the seller described it, he thought it might just be something simple and it was only a few bucks, no big loss that it didnt work and YES he still has it.

Then he asked me to look out for a Good one for him, I found a Retail version 9800 Pro from TOAD for a good price, so he went ahed and bought it. Still working to this day (about a month ago)

Since I saw the way the 9800 preformed he got, I thought what the hell, I'll give that a shot for my brother. I got one from Best Buy and now I'm having all this trouble with it and you people think I'trying to fvck Best Buy over ?

I thought you guys may have dealt with this kinda thing before and could help me out.

I mean hell if I was trying to screw them, I wouldnt have went for a low end card like a 9800 pro, I would have went for 6800 Ultra OC !

The difference being, you didn't recently aquire a dead 6800 Ultra on the FS\FT boards.

the 9800pro is not a low end card imo. it still performs admirably in many (85%) of the [popular] games out there.

I'm an idiot because I didnt keep one receipt ? Who really expects a brand new card to die ? Come on, seriously ? No overclocking, modding, nothing ?

I'm not asking them to change their policy, just for them to look at the problem as a whole, is that to much to ask ?

.....I could always say the customer service girl started saying racist remarks...then I could own some of Best Buy🙂🙂🙂

To me it's low end of what will be able to some upcoming games. My buddy can only play Farcry with the settings on med at 1078 and get a good FPS

sometimes cards die for no reason. rare bu possible

and you wont win a lawsuit for a racist comment, seeing that you bear the burden of proof and from what i understand, BB has some VERY talented lawyers 😉

Wrong. I bought the extended warranty on a TV, and when it broke I couldn't find my receipt. I brought it to Best Buy, they looked up my information, fixed my TV and printed me a new receipt. I later found my original one, but I didn't NEED it.
