My son's monitor fried last night, so I went this morning to Best Buy to get the MAG 17" (MAG 770-FS) which is currently advertised for $139-$50MIR=$89.

While I was there, the salesman turned me on to the Samtron 76DF 17" Monitor.. The online and advertised price is $169-$40MIR, but he said that there was an additional $40MIR. That makes it $89 for a VERY nice Flat Screen CRT monitor. I am running it at 1024X768 @85Mhz at this moment. It looks great. MUCH better than any $89 17" monitor I have been able to get lately.

When the price rang up, it was $169, plus they printed out two separate $40 MIRs.

Maybe this was a local deal only (Best Buy in Sawgrass, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida), I dont know, but I thought others might be interested.

EDIT: Actually from a post below, it looks like it is a national deal. Those of you in the market for a good monitor for cheap, check it out!

If I'm not mistaken Samtron monitors are made by Samsung. I haven't seen that particular model, but I've seen other ones and they're pretty nice.

Bump for a good deal.

Edit: When I first glanced over your thread I thought you said "My son's mother died last night" :Q I thought it was kinda of a strange thing to bring up in the Hot Deals forum. Glad I read wrong :)

It's an advertised special in their latest flyer. I picked up the same monitor today at the Beaverton, OR store. $169 total, printed out two rebate forms (plus two receipts, how very convienient of them). I haven't hooked it up yet, but if it's as good as gggonzalez says, I shouldn't have any problems with it other than wiating for my $80 to arrive. :)

Funny, check out the page at BestBuy that gggonzalez linked to. Click on the link for "Angle View", funny how it makes it look like a Viewsonic, eh? :)

Maybe its just a coincidence, but the Samtron 76DF has a control layout that is identical to the Samsung 753DF, it also has the exact same specifications, and the product numbers are remotely similar.. hmmmm...

CompUSA sells the Samsung 753DF for $200.

Samtron is Samsung's system integrator line, exactly same thing as Syncmaster, just slightly different chassis and control buttons.
If buy from nationwide chain retailers like bestbuy, staples, etc, 1 year warranty only.
If buy from system integrator who get it from authorized distributor, 3 years warranty.

Service, tech support, rma phone number is same as Samsung - 1800samsung.

Can someone confirm the rebates on this? On-line they list 1 MIR for $40. You get the second at the B&M during checkout... do both want the UPC and original reciept? Photocopies acceptable?

I tossed an old MAG 17" refurb that was "blinking" and miss dual monitors.

That's a pretty good deal, but I hate waiting for rebates. Some Sam's Clubs have a 17" monitor for $99 and no rebates are involved.

I was just about to post that I saw a Samtron 17" at Sam's for $99 and wondered if this is the same monitor. They had a much nicer selection of monitors than before.

No, the one at Sam's is the 76V. The one at Best Buy is the 76DF (Dyna Flat). It is a significantly better monitor, IMHO. Cheaper too, at this price, except for those pesky rebates.

As a comparison, the Samsung equivalents are priced at $200 and $139, respectively, at CompUsa.

gggonzalez. Thanks much friend.....My 3.5 year old 17 crt was dying on my secondary system and this monitor looks great for the price. Picked one up this morn and am using it now :) The sales people had no clue that there were 2 rebates on it and he looked shocked to find out a customer might actually know about a deal.....Anyways thanks again!

Actually, one of the rebates (the one from Best Buy) requires only a photocopy of the UPC.

Picked one up last night. The tag said a single $20 rebate but at checkout it printed two $40 rebates.
About $100 after rebate's, incl. tax.
Great deal and picture!

the best buy rebate form i printed out off their website stated ORIGINAL upc barcode must be sent...

plus the samtron rebate form also requires ORIGINAL upc barcode...

Use the rebate forms that they print out for you at the checkout counter.
The form for the Best Buy rebate specifically states that they require a photocopy of the UPC!

Just called local bestbuy, they say there is only one rebate available. $40.
So the second rebate is "hidden" until u check out?

Can anyone associated with BB confirm this?

I just went to BB and picked one up. Both rebates printed out and one requires original UPC and the other requires a copy. Great Deal! Thanks!

I bought one to replace my dying Sylvania F70. Its nothing more than a rebadged Samsung 753DF. Exact same specs and it even has a big sticker on the box saying its backed by a Samsung 3 year warranty. Its a really nice monitor for $100. Can't beat it.

picked one up for my brother. excellent deal. i paid 120 for the samsung 753df a year ago and it is an excellent monitor. i ordered online for in-store pickup and they didn't print the rebates immediately. i had to ask them to print them and then 2 popped out for me. thanks for the heads up buddy.:)
