Best Buy returns: does it matter what store?

I bought some memory at a store in Greensboro, NC this morning...well, the mem ain't up to my standards so I want to return it. But I won't be back in the Greensboro area for a while. Would it be possible to return it to a Best Buy location in Raleigh which is closer to where I'll be?

I have successfully returned various items (speakers, mice, controllers) to bestbuys other than the one i purchased it from.

Uh, no. If you bought an item with an extended warranty at one store and tried to do it at another store, (at least at Staples) I'm guessing 75% of the time they will not let you. That store has to eat the cost of that warranty from the other store, so most managers won't do it unless they're really nice.

To clarify a bit more: Best Buy WILL honor returns for items purchased from other Best Buy stores - provided, you return the item within the stated time periods.
