So I've been looking for a new printer, and my research led me to the HP 3310 All-In-One. The one thing that scared me away was the price (429 MSRP, can be found about 348 shipped online).
I was at Best Buy yesterday looking for something to use my $75 gift card on, and I noticed they had an open box HP 3310 for $315. I asked an employee what the risk is with getting an open box printer, and she said "you just don't get the box." Well I knew going out the door with it that I also wouldn't be getting the drivers and manual, but no biggie, right?
All told, my price out the door was $265 after tax and the gift card.
When I got home, I noticed that four of the six ink tanks were 1/2 full or less, there was no phone cable, no USB 2.0 cable (included according to the online manual) and most importantly, there was an actual piece of the printer missing: the photo negatives/slide scanning tray.
I called to complain today, and the person on the phone said that open box items are sold as is, but he understands that that was not explained to me. He said he would try and see if he could lower the price for me, but couldn't because $315 was already below cost. The only thing he could offer me was 10% off of a new one (I could get it cheaper online).
I can still return it, what do you think? I'm kind of pissed just on principle.
Cliffs:
1.Bought high end all in one printer for BB open box
2.Several things are missing
3.BB won't replace said things
4.I did get a pretty good price on the printer...but should I return on principle?
