512mb pc2700 Kingston SODIMM: $59.99
GeekSquad installation: $29.00
Notebook case I needed anyway: $39.99
Applying coupon: -$108.99
Walking out of BestBuy with a new stick of RAM & a new notebook case for $21.19 (without GeekSquad touching my gear): almost as good as scoring a 30gb Creative Zen Xtra for $21.20 @ BestBuy a few months ago.

THANKS OP!!!

The store in Costa Mesa will not take the coupons...no exceptions!

They admit that it's on their site and that it's valid, but say they can't take it anymore.

This coupon says at the top "computer accessories" and in it "Any memory and installation." Would memory sticks (Sony memory cards for dig. cameras and all) classify as this? The only part I'm not sure about is that installation thing - I don't know if they have a way to charege for installing memory sticks into a dig. camera. If this works for memory sticks, I'm going to best buy today - I could use some more memory for my camera.

I just went to the Bloomington, IN Best buy and they would not let me have the memory without a computer purchase. Seems fishy that they would allow me to buy certain things off the coupon but not the ram. They also said there was fine print, although it does not say so.

Cheap A holes I tell ya! I hate going there, and this is another reason why I don't like Best Buy. False Adverstising.

Worked today for me at BBY in Bloomington, IN. He did make me purchase ATLEAST $90 in ram, so I grabbed a 512 and a 256 and paid $20. He also applied the hard drive coupon I grabbed a 120GB for $95 - $60 Rebates - $20 Coupon = $15.

They lied. Simple as that. Sometimes you have to talk to managers etc. The coupon has no fine print that I can see, it says any memory purchase, it doesn't say computer purchase required, etc. BB likes to do things like this, just like compusa likes to rip up rebate forms when you get a pricematch. I just print them out online and get the rebates anyway lol. Like the get paid $10 to take a t-mobile phone off thier hands. Got emailed by t-mobile a week ago that my rebates are on the way and compusa emailed me to say I was accepted.

And yeah, sometimes the lies extend to the level nessasary to be false advertising.

All electronics stores like to lie or try and gyp you like that. As well, the clueless sales ppl will lie to get you to purchase things. Half the time they dont even know they are lying which is even more ironic.

BTW check the reply just above mine, someone went to same store you did and got it. So there's proof they lied.

You mean your sucky one with a sucky manager wont :)

Then again, doesn't that apply to most of them? ;)

BTW here's a link to the thread with details on the memory thing, including a case # you can call and reference with the CSR on the 800 number so they can verify.

On Saturday I got the kbyte 512 stick + installation for free.... I went back later with another coupon...not in stock, and then drove to the dayton, oh best buy (exit 2 off of 675) today (9/4), and the kbyte ram was now priced $199. It had been $59 the day before....

So I tried to get the kingston RAM for $55 + installation, and the transaction went through, with me paying NOTHING, but the cashier stopped the reciept from printing, and told me I couldn't have it. He then called the manager, asked if he could ring it up, and then told me nope, the store wouldn't honor it because the RAM was on sale. Filthy little *******. I'm going to call back tommorow and tell the manager about it. I bet the brat took the memory home.
