They just have to ring out the memory on the same ticket as the RAM install sku, along with the coupon

so ultimately... no matter what you do... you can only get $60 off of RAM purchase?

still pretty good.

wait so does that mean you can get sticks of memory that list for <$60 for free? like say... this?

$49.99 ram + $30.00 installation - $90.00 coupon = -10.01 free?

no, that ram is on sale. it is only valid for non-sale regular priced items.

I don't see any regualr priced ram on the website...everything is on sale. Maybe they did this because too many people were getting free ram earlier?

You shouldn't really let anyone at best buy touch your computer. If paying the $30 makes a deal work then OK, but don't let them near your computer.

I copied and pasted this from my post on another forum

By the way, If I may add. That bestbuy has a coupon that is $90 off any memory and install. I just picked 2 of THESE pny 512mbs(1GB total) 2700 which are on sale for $49 at bestbuy for free....lmao. It works with any memory. I just got the cheapest stuff that would be free after the coupon.

I was there for an hour, they had to talk to every darn manager in the store. I was able to get 2, he said he wouldnt give me anymore though lmao. He was dumbfounded as to why bestbuy would send out these coupons.

It sure beats a YMMV pricematch and coupon at same time, which only few people will get, and waiting for Staples rebates. What I did was this. Pick the memory you want, go to the "Geek squad" counter and buy a $30 install. Then take the coupon and go try and buy it. You will most likely have to do it as Customer service. They will probably fumble around a while, it took them 30 mins to finally give it to me. Then im like, "yes, id like to purchase another one"(if you can call it a "purchase" HA!).

Anyways, it is YMMV but, its pretty lame if they dont honor their own coupons. Just give them crap if they try and deny you.

Whoever was saying on sale ram doesnt work with coupon is obviously wrong. :)

Worked out like this:
$49
+ $30 install
= $80
-$90 coupon(which is pretty much a $30 refund back for the install cost) = FREE w0oh0oo

I did it twice. :)

My buddy sent me the coupon earlier today. I had to work today so I didnt get a chance to go get the offer, and I planned on doing it tomorrow. It turns out, my friend got the 512 MB RAM and the installation for free earlier and they accepted it. He dropped off his laptop. He came back later tonight, and they said the RAM would not fit in his laptop. They also cleared the shelves of all RAM and said they were sold out. He then asked if he could keep the RAM he picked out earlier and they said "No, unless he has another laptop to install it into."

I got some ram free with this coupon also. I tried 3 best buys and only one did it. I do have one question though has anyone tried using the coupon at Walmart, Staples, or Officedepot? They do take other companies coupons right?

Yeah im gonna try circuitcity later today see if they do it, maybe staples as well later. I doubt they will. Asking another store to pricematch a coupon is YMMV in the first place but then asking them to let you use it to walk out with free stuff is even more YMMV.

Should have your friend make them prove in front of his face that the ram won't fit.

I dont get it? They said he cant keep the ram because they cant get it to fit? lmao. Why did you bring you actuall laptop in man. Dont bring your computer in, just say you want to buy an installation, not actually have them install it. Shoulda got the ram and took off.

There were no more of the 256MB PC400 ValueRAM's on the hanging hooks, but I could see some in the little locked glass cabinet next to the rack. I flagged down someone to help me, but apparently someone broke the key, so they had to hunt down a manager. After something like 10 minutes, I finally got my RAM and went up to the register.

I told my cashier, "I'd like to take advantage of this coupon," pointing to the memory purchase & installation savings. She said she didn't think installation could be bought seperately and couldn't get the coupon to work automatically. Her manager was right next to her. After a short exchange, including whether or not I'd actually like to have installation (I said that I would if I had to, to comply with the coupon, but she said I didn't), she overrode the price to free and filled out one of the yellow forms. She didn't give me any looks that seemed like she was trying to make me feel guilty. At least I always shop there, thanks to their RZ card. Sure I 110% pricematch 8 out of 10 times I buy something there, but I'm still a dedicated customer.

The coupon did ring up correctly for regular priced memory that wasnt on sale though

Did it all work out automatically without a manager override? When i bought the PC3200 256MB on sale for $25 this week, the manager had to do an override. It would be nice to not draw their attention to this obscenely handy coupon.

While they have many excuses, that is a valid reason. So you sorta have to accept it. It does say "EXCLUDES ADVERTISED MEMORY" A win for bestbuy.

yea it worked without the manager override, they just had to talk to every single manager in the goddamn store first to find out it doesnt work with advertised specials

they wouldnt do it with the manager override, thats why I was there for 45 minutes

This is so hilarious... I have an old Compaq 350MHz P2 sitting around that only has 128MB of RAM, I'd like to throw more RAM in there and run Linux on it.

went to bestbuy last night and pick up the western digital 120gig hd for 40 after rebates and 512 sodimm ddr 2700 for 59.99. At first they couldn't get the coupon to work for the memory so they just endup ring it up as zero!

60 ram
+30 install
+100 hard drive
=190 - 90 ram discount - 20 hd discount = 80 + tax - 60 hd rebate = about $25 :D

i would too :D but if it make you feel better it took me about 30 min for me to get it...at first i went to a regular register then to customer services spoke with a regular worker and a geeksquad they was wondering what to do with the install because the computer needed to be there for them to install it. i told them just ring it up with the install and i install it myself so i could take advantage of the discount. They agree and rang it up, but coupon didn't work for the memory!(wonder why, maybe its on sale duhhh) So they got the CS manager to help, she thought it didnt work because i was "double dipping" the coupon. But i pointed out that the coupon is good for multiple items thats why at the buttom it say total saving of X amount. Then she look at it and try to ring it up again. Then finally the store manager jump in and call hq. CS manager came back and say they just gonna ring it up as zero :D
