Best Buy interview, please advise my friends!

I?m going in for an interview tomorrow at Best Buy for a technician position. I put down I would like to start at $9.00/hour. I felt hat is reasonable. I would like to know from any of you who have worked there, what is the interview process like? Is it one, two, or three interviews? Do they ask normal questions like what are your strength and weaknesses? Can you tell me about a time when you came across a situation in which you were put in a hard place and what did you do to resolve this situation? Any help and advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

if you have any post-diploma degree you should be asking for more than $9.00/hr as a technician.

It's Best Buy. They don't really give a sh!t. I got hired on there without hardly blinking an eye a couple years back. Seriously, you're stressing out over nothing.

And FYI, BB will not pay you $9 an hour unless you're doing maybe the Geek Squad thing, especially around/near the summer. (Wait that also depends on your area and stuff) I'd expect $8.

I always hear they don't give a crap but it's what you say that makes or breaks you. So I mean I can't just go in there and make stuff up on the fly. I have a feeling it's a "what are your weaknesses and strengths" type of interview.

You're over qualified for BB, they won't pay you $9 on top of that.

Any plans for more schooling?

I am in school right now for Computer Science. I work as a PC Tech right now but they pay off of commission. I'd like to get a steady paycheck. Even if it's $9.00 an hour, at least until I finish my schooling or get a campus job.

What year? An internship is what you should be looking at if you're in your 3rd or 4th year.

Then prepare for a weaknesses/strengths type of interview.

Better yet, walk around the store and watch how their moron employees act/treat customers. It's pretty obvious you can say "well my biggest strength is that I have a massive cock" and the guy won't even care. He'll probably laugh, high five you, and give you the job.

Seriously, you're not interviewing at Microsoft. You're interviewing on the opposite spectrum. Relax, brush your teeth before the interview, and you'll be fine. Retail managers just want their shifts filled, sales up. That's it.

If you really want to clinch the interview, the key for a technician is not expertise with hardware and software. It's the ability to take a customer and explore the avenues for attached sales.

Explore your relationship with the customer. Who uses their computer, how often, for what. If it's mostly for the kids, see if they'd like to add in a faster video card or more RAM. If it's for small business use, a smallish UPS to they can shut down safely. If it's for a new mother or father, ask if they'd like to look into a new digicam or DV camcorder to make home movies or print photos at home (new photo printer). And, of course, push the extended warranties.

You will be made or broken on the strength of your mock sale to the manager interviewing you. Ask pertinent questions, attach, alleviate their questions/concerns with confidence.

Best would try and get a campus job, those are the best. Good pay, easy work and you get to meet a lot people.
