First, build a time machine. ;)

Seriously, it looks like the codes are all coded for one time use. Here's this section from the email that I received:

"Coupon can only be used one time and must be redeemed by 11:59 p.m. CST
2/28/02."

They might even only work with the specific Best Buy account that was used to order the GeForce.

Well, I ordered the $30 GC, but only after putting something in it to put the price over $30.
I added a 3pack of jewel cases for $1.99 for in-store pickup.

Total was $32.11

Not bad, I guess, perhaps if there is something else cheaper at BB someone can let us know.
I'll probably end up not even getting the stupid jewel cases anyway, but whatever.

They were given to people who ordered the $129 GF4 Ti4600 but found their orders cancelled (i.e., everybody). There is no universal code available, so if you didn't order the Ti4600, you can't get the coupon (unless somebody gives/sells it to you).

I was able to order a $30 gift card with mine. On the front page near the left middle it says "give gift cards" click there and you should find gift cards in all dominimnations. I picked one $30 and checked out. NOW.... I was getting the authorization failure with my Visa checkcard... so I added my Amercian Express Blue number and picked that. It went through with no problems. So my guess is that some cards won't let you process an order amount of $0 so they get an authorization failure. Try Amex if you have one.

I think getting the GC is a good option since you can get the stores to price match things but BestBuy.com won't price match. So for mine... I want the PS2 game "State of Emergency", Circuit City has it for $39.99 ($10 less then Best Buy). So I get the gift card, go to Best Buy and get them to match Circuit City, then slap down my $5 off coupon (or the 10% preffered thingy), then hand them my free gift card. I get out paying $5 for a game that would have cost me $20+ after the $30 GC if I bought it online at BestBuy.com

Have any of you actually received a gift card that you ordered with the coupon? I am just wondering if those orders will be cancelled as well. I don't need the hassle twice. Plus, who knows if they will let you re-use the coupon if they cancel the gift card order.

I just received a "shipping completion" notice confirming my order is done processing and has been shipped so it looks like it's on the way.

regarding the gift cards, being able to order one is dependent upon the credit card you use. i tried unsuccessfully to order one using discover, it kept rejecting it. once i switched over to american express, it worked perfectly. not sure how it would be for visa/mastercard, but i guess from a previous post visa didnt work either

so i purchased a $30 gift card with free shipping :) there is no tax on a gift card for the amount purchased using the gift card, so this works out really well if theres nothing you need to buy immediately

I used the $30 coupon on Harry Potter and A.I. preorders. You get a $10 coupon with Harry Potter and a $5 coupon with A.I. I would have rather gotten the GF4 for $129. So in theory, 19.99 + 22.99 + 3.97(shipping) + 1.75(tax) - 30.00 = $18.70 plus $15 in coupons or the DVD's cost $3.70 for both...

Well, after two days of not getting an order confirmation from BB.com for my DVD drive, I called them.
The CSR I got on the phone said - Hmm, that's weird, the store hasn't told us if the have it in stock yet...why don't YOU call them and ask.
I'm like WTF? Why should I have to call and get them to do their jobs. I didn't want to argue, so I took down the number and called the Porter Ranch, CA store.

First I called and hit 0 to get an operator. Listened to the phone ring for 12 minutes before I gave up and called back. Over the next FORTY minutes I kept calling back, trying a variety of departments. FINALLY some idiot picked me up, by this time I wasn't very happy...so I asked the moron if it was busy at the store. That confused him. He told me it wasn't busy, then I asked why nobody picks the phone up and, naturally, he was like 'WTF, why would I care about that. I'm a moron who works in a dummy factory.'
He then put me on hold because he said I needed to talk to the computer guys. I told him to pay attention and pick me back up after I've been on hold for 5 minutes and the computer guys don't pick up. I then told him, 'Hey, I know it's a big store, and I don't expect you to walk all the way over to the computer department" because, you know, it's like at least a 20 foot walk....he failed to see the humor in that.

I waited on hold for 10 minutes. I called the number twice from my cell phone to see if I could get to a real, live human being to get them to help me. No luck.
So finally some Fvcking B!tch picks me up and starts giving me all kinds of attitude. She tells me they're out of stock on the DVD drive, so I give attitude back and say 'Well, when were you planning on telling BB.com that?" She then gets even b!tchier and notices that their computers now say they should have 3 in stock. Well, after holding for another minute, she actually made the 20 foot trek over to the computer department and got my drive for me.
She came back on the phone and said I could pick it up 'whenever'. I said 'Thanks, and I'm really sorry for making you guys do your jobs tonight' then she slammed the phone down about as hard as I've ever heard.

When I got to the store, I went there with my digital camera on the off chance that they'd have one of those $179 GF4 tags on the shelf - I was still livid and spoiling for a fight with a manager. Probably lucky for me, they didn't have any - just a tag that said you can pre order one for $10 and pay the $389 balance when you pick the card up.
It took over 30 minutes in the store to pick my drive up - I passed the time by counting BB employees who were standing around with their thumbs up their a$$es.

Yet another reason why BB will ALWAYS be my retailer of LAST resort. I mean, the online ordering process at every other store is light years advanced over BB's.
They suck, and they will never get a dime of my business whenever I have any other alternative.

Sorry for the rant, but I really freakin' hate this company.

Have a nice day.

Yeehaw, thanks to everyone who provided info for getting the gift card. I just purchased one (using Amex Blue) w/ free shipping. Thanks again.

Chris,
Sorry to hear about your personnel problems at BB, it seems to be a trend at many of the larger "super stores". In my area, Staples was the first store to hire thought-impaired employees, then it was Home Depot, and lately it appears like Office Max is taking training tips from the first two. Oh well, at least the online community is able to force BB into giving us some compensation for their continual pricing "errors".

You'd think with the recession that they wouldn't have to scrape the bottom of the barrel anymore to find decent employees.

I would forgive Best Buy if they didn't charge retail prices. I wonder "what exactly am I getting for my dollar?" They charge you full-price without extending full-service. They should be charging 5-10% over newegg prices, not more, because they don't have much of a value proposition. They're good for $49 Dreamcasts and stuff, but not much else.

Its true that this is a pic of the BB SKUI screen... My only quarrel is that the 'IN STK DATE' is 4/21/02. So.. i don't think you are looking at the right product screen. This product probably isn't even on the shelf yet. -thats my guess. Though, i could be wrong.
