It's rather tempting for me also. I played Guild Wars a bit during beta. It was rather fun considering there is no monthly fee. Right now me and the wife play World of Warcraft, so we may get Guild wars and try it out. The max level is only 20, but I read that it takes about 100 hours to complete the PvE portion of the game.. then you move on to the PvP to keep the game alive.

90% of pve is trying to find a monk for your group (assuming you aren't a monk.)

My monk prolly finished game in 40 hrs. Warrior took maybe 700. Three days straight all I did was try to do thunderhead with henchmen healers since you can never find monks there (because thunderhead is an EASY solo with henchies for a monk, so they just rush through it and pretty much everyone else gets stuck there).

PvE is fun if you have a good guild/loads of friends. But just playing the PVE with pickup groups is lame as hell. Game reminds me a lot of eq1 way back when I played it. But less useful spells for casters, more useful skills for warrs, and very very very much less difference in Mobs. Seems almost every Mob in EQ is the same. The extent of differences is which classes skills they use.

I was a monk so it was kinda easy for me to go through the game, but I have to say the items you get are pathetic. Not once in the whole game did I find a weapon suitable for me. When I say monk weapon I mean some item for the primary weapon slot that has good stats for mana etc. The only good times for me were during PvE with the smart groups. I would love to get back the hours and hours and hours of time I wasted in Guild Wars.

I played Guild Wars a lot when it first came out, then stopped playig and went back to City of Heroes. Now that City of Heroes is teh suxx0r, I'm playing City of Villains, but I play less, so I have time for other games. My son plays GW a lot, so I might pick up another copy so I can have my own character slots and let him keep his.

Guild Wars get old really really quick IMO. 90% of the time you end up with a stupid party which forces you to repeat the same mission over, and over, and over. It was more like a time killer for me but it was fun while it lasted . . . kinda.

Nice find on Guild Wars. Still $50 at our local Walmart. Doom 3 is actually not much less than I've been seeing it elsewhere of late, but not bad.

Guild Wars is a very tempting price, but right now I'm really enjoying WoW (played 17 hours straight) so who knows when I'll get to it.

Of course, I'll be buying this at Circuit City with a price match instead since their price is still $49.99.

So, $49.99 - $22 (110% price guarantee) = $27.99

I consider Guild Wars a fantastic game. First of all there's no way anyone finished the game in 40 hours unless they skipped major portions of the game. And it usually only take a few minutes to form a group to do a mission, and it's also possible to do all the missions using AI henchmen, so there isn't any reason to spend lots of time waiting to form groups.

Now it is true that there ARE people who take forever to form groups, because they think they have to have exactly the right combination of characters in the party to complete a mission, which isn't true. It's much more important to have people who know how to play their character than it is to have a specific kind of character.

My comments are about the PVE portion of the game which is mainly what I play; about 800 hours over the past 6 months. My favorite part of the game are the interesting variations of characters you can create by using different combinations of skills. Items are less important in this game than some RPGs, but it's still fun to collect different armor sets and unique items. They've added lots of additional content too, including new unique items known as green items.

Also, the graphics are very nice, and at least the female characters are quite attractive. :)

I went to the local Wal-mart today and asked if they had a Best Buy ad since they had to have the circular present to PM it. They didn't have one nor did they have a Sunday newspaper in the store with the ad in it. Do Wal-marts usually accept a printed out page of the ad or does it have to be the original? I may just get them to call Best Buy if I can get them to work that hard. Customer service has gone down the pot lately.

You can make some of these deals even hotter by going to BestBuy and getting a free XBOX 360 dvd with coupons in the case. They have a $10 off 29.99 PC game coupon. Also some other deals are:
1) GTA San Andreas for the PS2 for 19.99 (Make it 14.99 with a printable $5 Best Buy coupon of PS2 or PSP games. Google it)
2) Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2 for the PC for 29.99 (Make it 19.99 with the coupon included with the free XBOX 360 dvd)
