I plan on purchasing a fridge, stove, microwave, and dishwasher. I have a 10% coupon from Home Depot. Is it worth it to ask someone I know that works at BB to buy them for me? Is it easy to?

depends on the person. The discount is supposeto be for them/their family, of course, but the potential savings are huge. If his/her manager discoveres he bought stuff for a friend, he will likely get fired.

BB employees get to buy items at cost + 5% (or was it 10%). Just give him the money and he or she can buy it after their shift.

Yes. Appliances are well marked up at BB. But, your friend will probably get canned for buying appliances for you. Someone's bound to figure out that he doesn't need them.

why not just pull a truck around to the back and ask your friend to leave the back door opened.
To me it means the same thing. Just useing your friends and the friendship.

I have a friend who has worked for BB for 7 years (at the home office), and it wouldn't even occur to me to ask this of him. Abusing a discount is grounds for termination.

unless you two are GOOD friends, then that is a pretty rude thing to ask.

I worked at best buy part time during college and I bought stuff for everyone I knew. I hated the place and I was going to take advantage of the discount as much as possible. My fiance's little sister works at best buy now (despite me telling her how bad it is) and she buys me stuff all the time. If you're good friends with the bby employee, I'd ask him. If you're not that close, I'd just shop online or wait for another coupon.

I forgot to mention I used to work at BB and bought crap for everyone. I don't see what the big deal is. I KNOW everyone uses Friends and Family discounts/coupons that float around the web. You're not "close" to anyone that distributes that 90% of the time.

Thanks, I knew it wasn't out of the ordinary to ask someone.
