Are you sure you have the exact same model? From the BB website they listed a different model. Did you get MCE? If not, it's not the same.

The FW model is one of saving money: Anyone who thinks doing something outside the "norm" is at the wrong forum.

Having said that, I am not one who does overnight camping or driving hundreds of miles for a deal - there just to iffy because of all my fellow FW'ers out there: Not that there's anything wrong with that (I've heard that before!! 😀) - it's just something I've ever done.

The hardware is the same as the Black Friday laptop, the only difference is Media Center. Please note that this laptop does not have S-Video out so if you are planning to use it as a media box make sure your TV accepts VGA input. Also I can confirm that the battery life is indeed 1.5 hours....on a good day.... with the wi-fi off...and the monitor brightness and CPU speed scaled all the way down. While surfing on battery I'm getting about an hour out of a charge.

the battery is probably 2000 mah just like tgf.
yeah, the tgf model number was l35-s2151, so it looks like the difference is win mce and better vista upgrade. probably comes with recovery cds, unlike near bout every other manufacturer nowadays

Meh...got the HP lappy on black friday for $379 with these specs:

15.4" WXGA
Core Solo T1350 (1.86GHz)
512MB DDR2
80GB 5400rpm
DVD+-RW w/ Lightscribe

Of course, it was for my cousin who stood me up and didn't end up camping out with me for 10 hours, but hey, still a hell of a deal.

(btw - he thought it was for my girlfriend, but still, he stood me up and will feel horrible when he realizes it's for him)

The best deal I have seen was a Toshiba laptop for $499 AR but that was 2 months ago.

by the way, with settings turned down to low you can play CSS just fine with this laptop.

here's a screenie showing that the fps was fast enough to keep up in a normal pub. every now and then a hiccup would occur but once i upgrade to 1GB(which i've tried g-skill and PNY with no luck) the problem should be gone.

i replied before i saw your post in here. why are you disappointed? mine hasn't given me any problem except that i've tried throwing a pny and g-skill sodimm of 512 in there and it didn't like either.

besides that, i'm loving it.

they had the 6103nr for $379 during the sale though, so maybe march?
