best buy blows, if they continue to practice business how they currently are, the company will be down sizing quite a bit in the future to come...

I doubt it. By no means am I pro-business for any one company in particular. However, BB seems to have the right mix to draw people in the door, who, in-turn make sizeable purchases. Your statement the "BB Blows" is quite vague. Would you care to elaborate a little more?? The only fault that I can find with BB is that their pushy sales people should just chill out when it comes to pushing extended warranties. However, a simple "no thank you" on my part gets them off my back.

Additionally, regarding the comment about them being the "largest electronics dealer in the U.S." - I have a BB and a Circuit City about 7 miles from my home. Both stores are located within 1/2 mile of each other. The CC store is lucky if they have 1/4 of the vehicles in their parking lot that BB does.

Samething where I live. Thats cause CC sucks

I agree with wje. I hate going to BestBuy where employee greet me "What's up, dude or buddy?". When I go there, I keep my conversations with these guys minimum to keep myself free from frustration. On the other hand, I know some nice stores where they address me 'Sir', and give me very expert information and advice to help me choose the right product. Unfortunately, I choose to buy stuff from Best Buy instead of these nice stores so that I could save a buck or two, and do all the research home on the web. And as long as there are a lot of people like me around, Best Buys and Fry's will be in business for years to come.

Do be wary, if you are late even a day, for whatever reason, you payinterest on the WHOLE time the charge has been on your card, if you miss the last payment by one day, same deal, if you pay a dimeless than the monthly minimum, same deal.

Just keep it in mind, and don't forget to mail your payment a week early (doesnt matter if the mail slows down because of the holidays).

....to get back on topic kind of...what's a good ~500 dollar surround speaker package to get? I don't know much about them but we really needed one anyway so now is as good a time as ever.

oh and for the people that have carried this way off topic:

Best Buy is doing very well as an electronics retailer - they're #1. So they're obviously doing something right to get so much business. Believe it or not, most of Best Buy's SOP (standard operating procedure/platform) is based on another company's very successful platform - Circuit City's.

Best Buy's plan is to become "a world class organization" and they use Circuit City as their model/goal. Best Buy projects that in 4 years they will meet that goal.

By the way, I gave my two-weeks notice to Best Buy this last Friday =)

p.s. - there is a better forum for posting your grievances with BB: www.bestbuysux.org

The reason best buy offers financing like this is simple....peoplewho pay using their card spend 3 times as much as any other type of customer and typically buy 30-40% more accessories & service plans when they do shop. Little known detail, any item you purchase is elligable for this financing so long the most expensive item is the one listed for the 12-18-24 month financing.

Just a little story for you all! :D

My girlfriend (now wife) lived at home/college and didn't have any credit cards and when she graduated she had some stock and she bought a new car, cash purchase. One day she went to get a cell phone. They ran her info through the system and they wanted a $250 deposit from her. For a cell phone of all things!! So I got the phone for her, I wouldn't let her pay that, errr get shafted! She did not have bad credit, she had NO credit.

She got a credit card with a low limit (that's all they would give her) and charged her gas, some clothes, etc. on it and paid it every month in full. When we got married, she still kept this card and used it the same way. Now it's been a couple years and I can't even count how many pre-approved offers she gets in the mail every day.

Yes, I do agree that you shouldn't go buy something just because of the free financing, but if you're in the market, then it's a great opportunity. We got all of the furniture in our house on someone else's money!

You know those deals they offer on cars with low interest financing? Notice how they say "all buyers may not qualify". Well, this is due to either bad credit or no credit. Same goes for home loans. You'll pay a higher interest rate if your credit is less than perfect!

So keep your credit in good standing people!! It's amazing how many things are based on it!

You can establish your credit rating without buying things on credit (here, meaning paying for something over an extended period of time with interest). For example, you can build your credit rating having standard Amex card which you have pay in full every month.

The main reason I go into Best Buy rather then CC is because CC has commission based employees and they don't leave you alone. Not to mention that Best Buy has more variety and better prices.

Barney-- we all have our preferences and I agree with you. Only in my case the CC employees where I live won't help. I stood around in the audio dep't for about 15 min and finally went to some guy in the dvd area. He said he would get a sales consultant to help me. Waited a while and this guy shows up. I ask him if he can go lower on an open box receiver--said he would have to check with manager and he disappears. I said screw it--felt like I was buying a used car. I'll stick with BB. Here they are helpful and knowledgeable and the dep't manager can lower the price.

But, you still have to make the minimum monthly payment or else you'll be charged a late fee. Speaking from experience here.
They have extended you credit at a generous 0 percent interest rate ......god forbid should they ask you for a small monthly payment.
The money isn't the problem. It's just the monthly hassle of writing out a $10 check, putting on a 37 cent stamp and repeating this again and again for 24 months. Just leave me alone...I'll send one big check at the end.

I didn't look too closely but I think they have online payment. Save that 37 cents for something else and reduce the chance of being late in payment. :)

BB is the #1 electronics store in the nation at this moment, why? they run their business on efficincy, not on customer care. you spend money at BB, cuz you can walk in find what u want and buy + leave, the problem lies in if you have a problem with the product. read the thread on PM ATOC at BB, managers telling customers to call toysrus themselves, etc. PM, returns, other customer service issues are why BB is not customer oriented. the service desk wont talk to you unless u have a reciept, and thats the first thing they ask you for. I just said they might be downsizing within the next decade, cuz im wondering if BB wont reorient themselves towards customers, how long will people keep shopping? its just a big warehouse, u walk in, walk out...thats how some people like to shop, and there is nothing wrong with that. you cant say BB has better prices, everyones prices are the same, if not, u just PM. so to me, id rather give my money to a more customer oriented store, so i dont have to worry if whatever i bought doesnt work. are comission employees more of a hassle than the hassle u get with returns and PM's at BB, in my mind they arnt, but thats just my opinion.

cleared up wje?

i almost forgot about the restocking fees and them not PMing their own website. "Since technically BestBuy.com is a different company, they dont have stores and can offer products for cheaper" yet you can order online and pick up in store. what kind fo bull**** is that?

....sry for getting the thread off subject
