Starting Sunday (nov. 17th) if you buy, i believe, anything $299 or above in most departments you get 2 years to pay it off with no interest. i don't have any scans for next week's ad so I don't know any great deals on the items themselves.

This should come in handy for those hardcore anandtechers that joined Best Buy for that awesome Intel Retail Edge discount. If there's something you like at $299, buy it w/o employee discount and at the same time buy a bunch of stuff with discount (you only get 6months no interest when you buy with employee discount). Tis the season to be cheap.

I work at Best Buy and there are crazy numbers of people who sign up for the BB card to get the 12 months and 18 months financing. So I imagine a lot of people will use this also.

Wow that is insane , I will try and buy something for sure. :) Best Buy is really smart to offer deals like this...its easy to see how they have grown to be the largest electronics dealer in the United States.

Right now I almost have one large $800 purchase that was on a 12mo no interest nearly paid off ($35 left to pay). I am working on a large 18mo one that expires 12/03, so a 24month one is just what I need to make another large purchase. :)

Oh and my Best Buy card is by far my favorite CC. ...I have never paid a dime of interest and I never will furthermore most of my purchases are "hot deals". :)

Can anyone say: 32" Samsung wide-screen HTDT for $999? Unfortunately, if this promotion had started last weekend, I could have utilized the 10% off coupon, also. :(

Additionally, regarding the comment about them being the "largest electronics dealer in the U.S." - I have a BB and a Circuit City about 7 miles from my home. Both stores are located within 1/2 mile of each other. The CC store is lucky if they have 1/4 of the vehicles in their parking lot that BB does. In my opinion, BB "ownz" CC. Now, if BB could just rid themselves of their salespeople pimpin' those extended warranties, they would be truly an ideal retailer.

Finally, WileCoyote, thanks for telling us about this promotion. :)

The customer service at CC is far better than BB. I have had too many horrible experiences to count. The best was when the idiot BB car stereo guy didn't add the fuse to my alarm that he installed. When it shorted it causes a fire in my car. After countless hours and effort and about 3 months I finally got my money for the car repairs. After the dealer fixed my car (which I had to pay for upfront), BB had the nerve to want to re-install a new alarm. I made them pay the CC car stereo technician. They were pissed. Naturally this made them look like losers. After I made it clear they were going too and the sissy manager realized his three security guards didn't intimidate me he agreed before I Biotch slapped him in front of his customers. Ironically another BB car stereo installer screwed up an install for my best friend and they had to reinstall it. I prefer to take my BB add to CC and get better service and avoid lines.

Have people been able to use the 10% off coupon from PC World on anything other than computer peripherals?

i agree about the service at BB, it sucks. CC is a little bit better but not by much (usually busy w/ other customers).

edit- oh by the way, how do these no interest schemes work? you open a CC account right? then you charge your purchase to it? do you really have 24 months to pay it off?? as in price/24=monthly payment?

I'm guessing you'll have to pay 3% of the balance every month for 24 months then pay the balance in full or pay a boatload of acrued interest.

With Household (the people who issue these cards) being bought up I wonder if that will affect these cards...

Best Buy has to be paying them a fee since they don't make any money off the average cardholder.

Who is buying them?

when doing no interest financing you have to pay every month $10 or 2.25% (about) of the total price, whichever is greater. these payments are not interest, rather, they deduct from your final balance. and you need the best buy credit card.

and yeah, you basically have 24 full months to pay everything off. after that the interest is nearly 30% ... that's insane!

BB uses a 3rd party credit card provider (CC is internal). They just settled a lawsuit with customers for some deceptive practices. So read the fine print and be smart if you do the financing. If you do everything right, everything will be ok =)

Mine is 19.8% , not great but not horrible either.

Umm, I would think 19.8% is pretty darn high for a credit card.

It is but the promotion for the card isn't sign up for this 20% card.
It's only the cardholder's fault if they pay ANY interest on a best buy purchase, the statements are easy to read, they have automated support if you don't get your statement.

I've never paid a dime of interest on my BB card either, I wish all Credit cards had these financing options, they make a college student able to afford whatever he wants, the only downside is I don't have the willpower to choose what I want/need...hehe.

Wow, 2 years? I can buy my brother a new PC!

"Starting Sunday (nov. 17th) if you buy, i believe, anything $299 or above in most departments you get 2 years to pay it off with no interest"

But, you still have to make the minimum monthly payment or else you'll be charged a late fee. Speaking from experience here.

They have extended you credit at a generous 0 percent interest rate ......god forbid should they ask you for a small monthly payment.

You will not find a better credit card anywhere.......who else is dumb enough to offer a 24 mo no interest on an item as little as $299???????????????????????????????????????????
Think about it!

Definitely don't do what I did.

On the balance payoff I tranposed the cents when I wrote out my check!!!

43 cents was written as 34 cents!!!

That 9 cents cost me $78. Household Finance had absolutley no mercy when I called and begged forgiveness , they were actually downright rude about it.

No doubt that business is business; they got to find some ways to make money out of our pocket, as long as laws allowed.

Last time I sent the payment a few days ahead of the due day but I was still charged with a late fee. Complained and the lady told me that it would take them 7 days to process the payment. Since they send payment notice only like 1-2 weeks before the due day, you better off write the check and mail it out immediately.

Also those credit card interest rate calculation is funny as hell. Say if your balance is $10,000, and interest rate 20%. You make a payment of $9,999.99 on time. They will still charge you $200.00, even though you nothing but just owe them one cent. Yea the rule is written in those little fine print; I learned that in a hard way.

The ad just went up on the website. Several depts require larger purchases. I am thinking of getting a new TV, but the purchase must be $499 or more to qualify.

Well even better yet they just started offering an online payment option, if you pay that way it goes thru faster.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't that a 30" HDTV? I am assuming you just got a little excited over the deal and misreported it, if not let me know, cause that sounds like a better deal then a 30" that I see on the site? Is that TV any good? I am considering buying a new TV to replace my 19" TV and since I am aquiring DVDs like mad, widescreen just seems like a good bet

So a single item has to exceed that amount? Or is it just the total for a single department?
