I'm building a HTPC on an Abit AA8XE mobo that I've had laying around. It originally had a P4 Prescott 3.0 OC'd to a 3.5.

I need to find the best performance/price CPU. It doesn't need to be that powerful since it will only be running as an HDTV tuner/Mp3 archive. I still have my main rig for burning DVDs and encoding.

Oh yeah, I already have Zalman 7000b, so OEM would be preferred.

I've been out of the Intel loop for a while, so any suggestions would be helpful! Thank you

I just had a Celeron D 310 that did 3.7GHz P95 stable on air. :Q (Zalman 7000Cu)

It was pretty impressive for a $63.00 processor IMO, and pretty snappy @ 3.7GHz... ;)

EDIT: The lowest $$ LGA 775 on Newegg is $80.00.... If it OC's anything like the one I tried, it would still be a great deal IMO....

Thats pretty awesome! Too bad its a 478 processor and not 775 :(

The cheapest Celeron D LGA775 processor on Newegg is $80 (2.53Mhz, 533fsb)
