Best Browser for Linux ?

I'd say either Mozilla or FireFox...I used to use firefox in linux, but now i find myself just sticking with good ol' Mozilla - because for the life of me I could not get Java working correctly in FireFox! I don't really like Konqueror that much, it seems like too many webpages (that are probably written for IE) don't display correctly in Konqueror - Mozilla and Firefox are good at displaying the IE crap!

w3m for text browsing and FF for gui, i chooce FF over a lot of other great browsers just because of the amounts of extensions available for it, if not for that i would say epiphany (which is, of course Gecko based).

However, if you are using KDE then Konqueror might be a better choice simply because of the ease of use and nativity (file bindings work globally).

Firefox or w3m in a terminal.

Are those that are saying IE in wine serious. Wine is a great piece of software it is not supposed to be abused like that!

or the short answer: firefox. 😛

I love firefox too, but is it me or does konqueror seem more stable, I'm always finding things that don't quite work well in firefox.

it's not that hard to get java working on firefox. if you can get it to work under konqueror, then you probably just have to set up a few things in firefox. first you have to download the jre, or jsdk from the website. Then you compile it, then you copy the libjavaplugin.so file to your plugins directory in mozilla, and woola. That's it, one thing to take in consideration is that you may have a broken/old plugin in your /etc/mozilla-firefox directory, which may be causing trouble.

I'm torn between Konqueror and Firefox, but in the end, I prefer Konqueror, simply because it's a QT application, GTK sucks IMO, so Konqueror it is 🙂
