Trying to find the best Bluetooth headset - I have problems hearing other people, and other people hearing me.

Need one that cuts down on background noise


Seen a few choices being recommended, wonder if other people have opinions.

• Bose Series 2 - good reviews, but pricey ($150+)
• Jawbone ERA - people complain that the "NoiseAssassin" sometimes fail to work properly, need to adjust it properly so that it rests on the cheek
• Plantronics M50 ? cheap, but ?

If there is a really good wired option (that works with android/nexus 5), I'm open for that too. Basically, I want the "Apple" version of headsets - works without any problems and solves only the "talking" aspect - don't care about fancy features like Google-now/Siri integration

I went through at least 5 different brands/styles before receiving the Series 2 as a gift. Haven't even bothered charging any of the others since, and it's been over a year. In addition to the price, battery life isn't that great, but audio clarity is unbeatable.

Plantronics Voyager Legend has been great for me. I need something a little larger or I'm apt to lose it or run it through a wash cycle.

Anyway, just like in the other thread where I'm hung up when I hear people talking about Mac vs. PC (while a Mac *is* a PC), I also couldn't understand why people call an earpiece a 'headset'. If I hear the word headset I'm thinking it covers my head, and the sound has to be stereo.

Either way, I don't think the Parrot Zik is what you thought when you asked, but damn straight it will do what you need, and more, excellently 🙂

i actually would like that... tried single ear vs dual ear(mono sound though), felt I don't have to strain to understand with dual ear

I have a stereo headset, this Sony MW1, similar to the Parrot Zik you mentioned.

It does a good job... at playing MP3, playing FM radio, listening on phone calls... but doesn't do a good job at capturing my voice, filtering out background noise and delivering my voice to the other party



most of the stereo headset suffer with the same problem (inferior microphone technology). the Parrot Zik has same problems too, according reviews on amazon

Headset capabilities - Admittedly, I've only tested this briefly, but the audio quality when on calls is nothing to write home about. But then again, I'm not looking for superb sound fidelity when talking on the phone - just need to make sure I can hear the other person very clearly and they can hear me well. I think the Ziks getting a passing grade on this, but they're certainly not raising the bar here.

3) microphone and noise cancelling is effective, but you do sound a bit thin when speaking through the Zik. Perhaps not much can be done here as no doubt the noise cancellation is in effect. Because the Zik has it's own version of the "Jawbone" sensor, perhaps this is about as good as it can get though.

bought a left-ear Bose Series 2 Headset for $97.50 (juggling a few coupons / 25% off gift card from sharper image)

will judge the microphone technology (vs my current Sony MW1) when it gets here

It's of cause very individual which ones you prefer. But in my opinion, the Plantronics Voyager Legend UC B235-M is the best option, followed by the Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 2 (definitly worth the price). There's a top list at Headphones Unboxed that agrees with me. I have no problems hearing people with either one. The Bose one even has a function to increase the sound level when you walk in noisy environments. Anyway, hope you find a better one.gl

Are you talking about a proper headset or headphones? From your examples, it seems like a headset.

Bose Series 2 is by far the best and it's quite small which is great cos I personally don't like massive gadget hanging off. Something called Moto Hint is even better but not sure if it's released/and probably will be pricey too!
