Question Best big current monitors?

Mine is dead. It was a big one. LG. Not sure how big, 30 something inches I would guess.

Is there any one that people agree on are the best ones to get today? I like BIG monitors, able to go super high resolution.

Thanks!!!

Depends on your needs and your preferences. I got a 49" 32:9 VA monitor, but some prefer IPS, some 21:9 or 16:9, some value 4k over 144+hz. etc.

Is it purely for gaming or do you need it for work also?

Thanks biostud and starc777! So, I looked at the 49" ultrawides, HATED them. Too wide, not tall enough. So I ended up with an Acer 43". Love it. My monitor that dies was an LG 43", so this fits right in to what I'm used to. Shame them haven't made any that are just a bit bigger but keep the same aspect ratio, not that crazy ultrawide stuff.

Thanks for your help!!!

LG makes no monitor in 43 inchs did you mean a smart TV?

Im surprised no one asked what video card you have or your budget.

If you also bought a 43 inch acer, id hate to break it to you, but the ASUS PG43UQ is a much better monitor for the price.

Acer:

ASUS:

if your in your return window, i would think about returning that acer and getting an ASUS, as the ASUS is 144hz without overclocking out of the box.

aigomorla, LG doesn't make monitors? I think they do:

https://www.amazon.com/LG-43UN700-T...keywords=lg+43"+monitor&qid=1622501957&sr=8-3

Or at least they call it a monitor, and I've been using one for years and it sure seems to have functioned perfectly as a monitor, before finally busting.

Those two monitors you linked were both well over $1,000. I paid $495 for my Acer. I'm sure that Asus is nicer, but I'll take the monetary saving.

Thanks!!!

OMG how did this guy slip under my radar?
No you are absolutely correct, that is a monitor, and its a new one on top.

Which Acer did you pay 495 dollars for? I automatically assumed it was the CG437KP. I am guessing its not the predator.

Normally when someone says i got a 43" its usually a gaming/console monitor, or people just step up and get the full 48 and grab a LG OLED.

This is why i also asked what your initial budget and video card was.

Yeah, LG has had 2 generations of their 42.5" 4k panel.

I have the first gen LG 43UD79-B, a few years later the 43UN700 came out with HDR support and a bit higher brightness (though still not really bright enough for proper HDR presentation)

There is also a rumored 42" OLED panel from LG slated to release later this year. Though it could be presented as a smart TV (like the current 48" CX and C1 OLEDs)

Here is the one I got aigomoria:

So, how bad is that one? I certainly don't have any complaints with it thus far. Hoping you don't drop any "bad news" on me (although, if bad news is to be had, I want to know, and I'm ready for it 🙂.

Thanks!!!

its probably perfectly fine for your usage.
You don't seem like a intense gamer, which most likely means you are not on a 2080 or a 3000 series, so the 60hz will be acceptable for you, as i do not think you have a video card able to drive it any higher.

Its IPS, which is my favorite type of panel as well. Colors look better despite the lower contrast, due to its larger view angles.

So no i have nothing bad to say about that monitor. 😉

Best really has lots of meanings. Tonight I compromised and purchased a MSI MPG ARTYMIS 343CQR that will give me a good range of performance doing many things. I almost got the BenQ Mobiuz 34" but cancelled it for this one. I'm going to use the difference to get some new desktop speakers.

I figured its best to go ahead and get a new one before my current HP goes out.
