Best big CRT?

Ok, i have a $4000 US budget for the best CRT out there for [games, movies] e.t.c The budget doesnt have to be used all up but its to make sure i get the best there is. So what in your opinions is the best CRT above 20"?

This is a nice display. I could never justify the cash for it though.

If you have to have the most crisp CRT money can buy, then this might be more your speed.

I'd say the Sony F520 is the best CRT there is. Remember that most manufacturers have been concentrating on LCD's for the past year or two.

What about the Sony FW900

The F520 is better on paper but it doesn't have the widescreen. 🙁

Yeah, and he says he watches movies, and the 900 isn't THAT much more than the 520, so I I guess it depends on how much he watches movies.

DIE! How could you afford such a beautiful monitor. :Q:heart:

I had like an $8k 'bonus', and before i knew it, half my money was gone and i had nothing to show for it (paid of bills and the other stuff on recreational activities). So I decided i needed something physical that i got to keep and enjoy out of all that money, so i splurged on the monitor.

You could actually find the FW900 cheaper than the F520... i was actually looking to buying one of those... it would probably broken my measly desk in half. 😀

This doesn't even come close to the same quality level as either of the Sonys suggested here. Given, it is more of an economical choice, but budget isn't the issue.

thanks for the replies, both those sonys look very nice. if i were to use a crt for many hours, would i get eye strain or minor headaches even at 70-85hz in comparison to a lcd. or would i be able to watch alot of movies and not feel any strain if i were to spend the same amount of time on a lcd?

Well, not quite. As far as CRTs go I prefer Mitsubishi Diamond Pros. I have owned 2 of them and about 4 Sony's and have used more of each at work. As far as upper level stuff goes they are both great but I like the Mitsubishi's abit more.
