I was thinking Blue Moon since it comes with orange slices. I'm not really a liquor drinker, but if our table wins the round of shots for best name, the creme de menthe sounds like a good choice.

burning question: what will be tonight's name?

my current suggestions:

Vandaly Industries
or
Hippie soup, hold the oil.

I like 'see you next tuesday' :p

Jagermeister, though not a beer, is a potent herbal concoction that may aid you.
Maybe Shiner Hefeweizen?

are the myths that it is a cough syrup in Germany actually true? I saw plenty of it while in Vienna, but never found it in the medicine isle....

Couldn't tell you, I know we just used it to get plastered :p
But various forms of liquor do have a long history as being used to cure ailments.

Gay and fruity FTW!

Anything specific?

some kind of lemony vodka. alcohol to kill the beasties, the vitamin C to do whatever it is that vitamin C does :)

as for beer--yeasty + fruit. take heart...you'd still be one of the manliest at the table :D

Whining about a lack of Guinness isn't manly?

there are far manlier beers than Guinness. and frat boys don't whine; they suck it up and order a PBR ;)

fixed
hehe

True Story:

many years ago (let's say ~20), the doc prescribed a tbsp of whiskey for my brother's ear infection.

Whiskey is great. not only does it "cure" infections, it also solves external environmental factors, such as cold and rain.

Stouts will be your best bet. Guiness or an Oatmeal stout, any stout! Lots of vitamens and minerals.

I'll see if they have Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout, it's dinner in a bottle.

Or a Rogue!

I really don't know why you would waste your time at a trivia spot without a good tap selection. I started my trivia career at a bar with 20+ taps, and now that I've moved there is always at least one bar doing trivia on any given night. Even the pizza bar with the easier trivia has guiness available.

That's what's such a mindfuck about this place. It *does* have a wide tap array, they just don't carry Guinness for some reason and it blows my mind. They try and push Beamish instead which just isn't even close :(

Beamish will do fine. Sometimes its an either or. When I was in Ireland this year, the bars predominantly had Guiness on tap, but some would tap Beamish instead and not offer Guiness.

I don't know. They're both flat, weak stouts...what's the difference? The best Guinness is their "Foreign Extra," which they don't ship to the states, and is actually bottled in the Netherlands, iirc. It gives Sammy Smith a run for its money (it's also 7% ;))

Foreign Extra is very tasty, got my first taste of it at the St. James Gate Brewery!

I cannot condone your attack on Guiness Stout/Beamish though. They may not/can not be the end all all-father of beer, but they are worth drinking.

Back in college I postponed a cold with liquor. Started feeling sick on a Thursday evening, and definitely was feeling it Friday. I drank heavy Friday and Saturday, felt great the whole weekend including Sunday, and then woke up Monday with the cold again.

oh, I don't think they aren't worth drinking. I'll drink Guinness in a pinch, when my other choices are MGD and Bud*

I would take any other stout, though, and likely any Pale, Porter, IPA, Amber....

What about red wine (antioxidants)? :wine:

It's extra manly if you brown bag it straight from the bottle, but of course you can't do that in a bar.

Over proof rum and lime juice, seriously my grandfather would have that if he felt he was coming down with a cold.
