Best BBQ sauce for beef brisket?

JEDI

Lifer
So I found out my Costco sells beef brisket.
its strange that they don't have a sign up for it. it's just there next to the chuck roast.

so I'm going to cook it in a crock pot. simple:

beef brisket
bbq sauce
4 or 8 hrs in crock pot

add onions maybe 15min b4 I eat.

anyway, what bbq sauce?
I'm thinking Sweet Baby Ray's honey chipotle.

Our favorite mainstream sauce is Bull's Eye & Stubb's.

Neither contain HFCS.

Stubb's Spicy is damn tasty if you like it hot.

Yep my wife swears by Sweet Baby Ray's herself, and we've done the Honey Chipotle many times.

Not sure it's the best in the world, but damned good.

Have an almost gone bottle of Honey Chipotle in the fridge and a Hickory & Brown Sugar.

Sort of a trick question. Brisket is best without sauce, which you can't do because you're boiling it.

I like stubbs. Sometimes mixed williamson brothers. Sometimes add cider vinegar if I want to thin it out.

I avoid HFCS but not all HFCS sauces are bad. This is by far the best mustard carolina sauce I've found and it's HFCS-based. A little goes a long way, you shouldn't be drowning the meat in sauce anyway

That's all opinion 🙂 brisket is great without it, but so much better with it, but then I love sauce. BBQ w/o sauce is not BBQ to me. 😛 (yea, looking at you Texas).

Another vote for Sweet Baby Rays.

I've a rottiseserie I use for things like that a bit these days, but depends on how you're doing things.

Made a GOT chicken last night 🙂

definitely one of the best mainstream brands Stubbs is great all around.

his chicken marinade? i marinade thighs for almost 2 days in that stuff. best damn chicken over charcoal i've had. i know they say don't marinade more than i dunno like 4 hours or the marinade starts to break down the muscle and make it mushy, but stubbs is magical. i've done it at home and i've done it two times camping and people were raving about it.

sweet baby ray's is horrible. do not put that on beef. it does not go with beef. it is diabetes in a bottle. might as well just roll your brisket in sugar.

if you're going to cook brisket in a crock pot (you must have the largest crock pot ever), just do it like any other beef roast - pepper, red wine, onions, root vegetables. or, pickle it and make new england boiled dinner. or, a bottle of hot sauce and black pepper.

I prefer BBQ without sauce because if it's done proper, it shouldn't need it--Though I'm not from briscket land so that isn't a common thing with me.

But those that I've liked--Stubbs is pretty good. Bone Sucking Sauce is amazing:

I've used it for baby back ribs and it's out of control. Their hot sauce is really good, too. ....i have not tried the mustard crap because only bastard south carolina people eat that! :colbert:

I don't know if they make something fit for brisket, however.

Sweet Baby Rays is brown colored sugar. I'm not sure why people eat that.

For a slow cooker just add onions carrots and potatoes to the bottom. Rub down the brisket with salt and pepper and put it on top. Slow cook for 8 hours. Done

Did you eat every fucking chicken in the room?

Best is a strange question when it comes the BBQ. I'd suggest you look for the best of the different types. I like rubs (dry) over sauces (wet) but I'll never turn down either done right.
