I've been looking into this too and have found that wireless suck sadly. But if you must, off the shelf Swan from Costco are popular but look at reviews and decide yourself. If you find something let me know.

Does it have to be wireless? The POE IP cams are nice, Hikvision and Dahua are on Amazon.

Do you already have NVR software in mind? I'm assuming you plan on local storage since you are referring to bang for buck.

The CCTV systems came down in price .... Costco had 720p 8 Camera with DVR for like $400 .... unless you really need wireless.

By the way, don't get something that offers below D1 recording, 960H is better, but 720P is even better
