Best bang for the buck video card?

Anyone know the best bang for the buck card for this scenario. I am thinking the 4850 or gtx250.

WoW
Microsoft office -> Excel spreadsheets
Programming

Going to be attached to a Phenom 920 or Wofldale 3100.

Pretty close call, but I think the HD4830 wins the "bang-for-buck", as it can overclock quite high, and can be had for $75 after rebate. It really depends on your resolution. If your at 1680 x 1050, then the HD4830 would make sense. If your at 1920 x 1200, then you probably want the HD4850.

How about driver differences between Nvidia and ATI?

It seems when hardware is equal price is almost equal.....but then Nvidia drivers are supposedly better? (which to me is the tie breaker)

P.S. You can also wait another month for HD4770 which is supposed to be almost as good as HD4850 while only using 80 watts due to the fact it will be the first 40nm GPU released. (The potential of two HD4770 in Crossfire with P45 chipset might be pretty good while allowing a small PSU at the same time)

just learning is right buy nV if you play WoW for drivers... otherwise for spreadsheets , etc flip a coin..... If you play UT3 buy AMD this is endorsed by Rollo and Wreckage...
