Best bang for the buck video card right now?

I haven't kept up on video cards lately, but I'd like a new one. Right now I'm running a Matrox G450 card. It's a good card, but the 3d sucks. I don't play a lot of games, so I don't need a GF4, but I'd like something a bit better. What's the best speed for the money at the moment?

If you wait a couple of weeks, you can pick a GF4 Ti4200. They're just starting to come out, suggested retail is less than $200. Performance is supposed to rock.

Wait about a month. Either get the geforce ti4200 or get a Radeon 8500. Although the ti4200 is faster, I think the price on the 8500's will continue to drop still making it a great bang for the buck card.

Radeon 8500 64MB Retail goes for 130 on pricewatch. That's a great bang for the buck! You could get a 128MB LE for more, but in benchmarks, the 64meg Radeon is so close. Plus you get excellent DVD hardware acceleration, and the ability of outputing to two monitors.

In a couple of weeks, or months, who knows how long it'll be, my reccomendation will change to the TI4200 Geforce 4, but since your thread says Right Now, it's no question, the Radeon 8500.

As others have said......... best for the buck video card as of NOW:

Gainward GeForce3 Ti200 - $140
Radeon 8500 LE - $120

In a few weeks........ GeForce4 Ti4200

The Radeon 8500 and the GF3 Ti200 both offer serious levels of performance without breaking the bank. At the end of the day it comes down to personal preference as to which one you get.

Right now? Definitely Radeon8500..
But if you want to wait for another month or two, then GeForce Ti4200 is the one to go.

I say it depends on your budget.

[*]less than 100 - Radeon 7500
[*]100 - 150 - Radeon 8500 64MB or GF3 Ti200
