I'm going to have about $3000 to spend on this, and would like to buy the parts individually like I said. Putting it together myself isn't necessary, but like I said- if I'm buying the individual parts I don't have much of a choice.

So, to get to my question now that you have some information:

If I follow instructions, take care, and all other things, will (should) I be able to put together a rig from scratch using water cooling, or will it be too risky?
Congrats - that's quite a lot of money you have to deploy. I'll bet you'll be able to get it done much cheaper when you lay it all out on paper.

Don't sweat it too much about doing something wrong during a build. Take your time. Read everything you can get your hands on via multiple forums about the parts and combinations of parts you are considering. Try to pick CPU/mobo/RAM/PSU combos and brands that are more mainstream so you'll have the forums to turn to if you run into trouble down the line.

I've been out of college a while now, but ever hear of the phrase "overstudy for it"? If you overstudy for your build...especially your first, you'll be amazed at how easy it goes. In fact, once you successfully put together your own PC, you'll likely be pissed that you actually paid a company to do it for you in the past -- I remember I certainly was.

All the best.

Here's a thought... tell us what your current computer is made of (see if it has any resale value) and if its only worth like $50 or less, what you should do is take it all apart (dont cheat and lay the removed pieces out in an order you can remember), then put it back together again. If it works, then you can build a PC.

Oh yeah, i just pvt msg'd a user on here, i checked out cyberpowerpc.com, yeah they suck like every other "let us build your PC" site. In their defence though, they do have to provide tech supports for whiney little bastages, and they took the risk of starting their own business so w/ risk comes reward (lots of fools out there that need seperating from their funds). Built a PC for a coworker, $750 all said and done. CyberPower wants to charge like $930, and thats before shipping and tax.
