I have an HTC EVO 4G from sprint, and I'd like to back it up in a way I could fully restore to the current state.

Is this possible? I'm about to try installing some mods and want to back things up.

If you're going to be trying different ROMs, you get an custom recovery installed (CWM or TWRP) and do a nandroid backup which will let you revert back to where you were.

I would try HTC's backup solution thats tied to dropbox. Ive used titanium for the last 5 years, but have found HTC's to be much better. You *should* have it on your phone.

Looks like I'm going to have to swap my phone due to a defect on the display.

Is there a backup that I can do that will allow me to mirror exactly what I currently have on to the new one?

Ideally, Nandroid, but that requires you to root and flash a custom recovery.

I can't think of it, and I don't need to backup my SMS either thanks to Google Voice. App data is really the only thing.

Exactly. Now that I've made a list of userid/passwords for my apps, the only thing I lose is game data. And it doesn't matter to me if I lose 20 levels of progress in angry birds. Feels fresh starting over anyways.

Heh, game progress is specifically the one and only thing I actually use backup for. ;)
