Best AVI to DVD conversion software?

Hello all!

Just got my first dvd burner, and im attempting to burn some AVI's to a dvd but NeroVision is taking an hour and 15 per file. Are there any better/faster programs, or ways to speed the process up a bit?

TMPGEnc is nice. It has a wide array of options, including a quality selector that speeds up encoding time. However, depending on your CPU and memory, it's still going to take a while. With my virtual Athlon 64 3300+, it takes about 30 min/hr at medium quality.
