Best ATI Drivers of all time! 3DMark05 Results

I just wanna share something with every body here, because i spent 3 hours today to in order to find out which ATI Driver is best .And for the Benchmark i used 3DMARK2005 with my 9800pro running at (425/745). The result i found out after using these 4 drivers for ATI card left me with so much surprise and shock that i thought this is a really something to share with every body. It all started this morning when i was playing Need for Speed Undergroung 2 on my 24" Dell wide screen LCD and at resolution at 1028x1024 with every detail on game started to lag and freeze.

DRIVERS:

1. ATI Official driver 5.3 from ATI's website.

2. DNA Driver based on ATI's 5.2 from GURU3D.com.

3. Omega Driver based on ATI's 5.1 from GURU3D.com or Omegadrivers.net

4. NGO ATI Optimized driver based on 5.3 from GURU3D.com

3DMARK2005 Results:

1. ATI's Official Driver 5.3 3D05 Result: 2323

2. DNA Driver based on ATI's 5.2 Result: 2401

3. Omega Driver based on ATI's 5.1 Result: 2650

4. NGO Driver based on ATI'S 5.3 Result: 2350

I heard about Omega Drivers alot but never used it before, because alot of people here told me ATI's Official drivers are best, but what i can see after all this testing Omega Drivers really rocks. My game freeze and lag problem is also gone.

you did not read the whole thing i said it started after i updated the Driver to 5.3, now i am using Omega Driver and trust me it works perfectly. If you don;t belive me you should try it too, i am not saying that i cannot be wrong i want every body to try different drivers and post their results here.

I've been using Omegas for two years, and they haven't done me wrong yet -- which isn't to say there isn't something faster out there for a given application. On my system (Barton @ 2.5GHz, R9800 Pro @ 465/740) the Omega 2.6.05a (based on the Cat 5.1) outperformed the Cat 5.1s on the CS:Source stress test by 15-20FPS at 1280x1024 2xAA 4xAF, ~65FPS to ~45-50FPS. I can't explain that large of a difference from a simple driver optimization, but there it is.

The image quality is even better, if you run 3DMARK05 you will see the difference under the great stress. I am telling you that i did not belived when i saw the difference, i mean fps were faster and smooth.

Oh i was checking Omega drivers website and i found out this which is really bad. After checking all the drivers i became a fan of Omegadrivers, but this omega driver guy is totally right, there are a lot of copy cats but they don;t know any thing about drivers like NGO Drivers.

If you're keen on going beyond ATI's WHQL certified defaults and options, then you would be well advised to make use of a "tweaker" like ATI Tray Tools for access to all the additional options available in the ATI drivers. To blindly rely upon some dude's alternate default (by way of plain text editing of a setup script) is foolhardy as you have no way of knowing what has been compromised nor any way of reverting to certified settings. ATT also offers extensive profiling to optimize for each game. radeon.ru

In general, I agree with you -- but by this point Omega is no longer "some dude." He's been doing this for years, with a focus on image quality rather than straight performance, and any number of people can attest to the effectiveness of his tweaks. He also leaves all generally-available options open to the end user (with the caveat that changing them may screw with the balance at which his settings are aimed). And anyway, if you're willing to play with your drivers, you're probably already familiar with the best way to "revert to certified settings": reinstalling the stock Catalysts.

I am totally agree with HeaterCore, this guy has been around for so long that you can trust him. And he has been verified by different major websites like GURU3D, Anandtech, etc. We should appreciate the guys work, what ever he is doing works for me. Like i said why don;t every body try it and put down your results here, and be honest.

The few times I have used Omega drivers I have been happy with them. I never really bench marked them against the official Ati drivers, but they always seem to work fine. I think people grew to like them because Omega drivers were'nt WHQL certified, and if an issue or problem with the official WHQL Ati drivers excisted, Omega drivers were always a good workaround.

I think the guy who makes the drivers has stopped now. He says his current life events and the driver scene are making him stop.

Because he said people are not supporting him and they are downloading other drivers, like NGO, DNA etc, and he also called them copy cat because they are copying his style. By the way i look at it even they are trying to copy him they still don;t know how to make good drivers.

And prolly neither does he know how to make good drivers or else he would be writing them professionally (i.e. actually programming rather than editing setup scripts). The copy cat claims are silly and seems a matter of this dude craving attention for doing something so simple but unable to stand others doing likewise. How and in what manner does he expect others to support what is his hobby? In reality, he is lucky that ATI marketing thinks that allowing their multi-million dollar drivers to be repacked and distributed by enthusiasts serves to create interest in their product.

LOL. Too true. Not very many people realize all of that, they probably think that Omega actually "writes" drivers, rather than hacking .INFs or whatever he does. AFAIK, all of the binaries are all straight ATI, are they not? But I agree his mixing and matching, along with testing, is a valuable service to the ATI community. I used to have to do that myself, back in the ATI RagePro days, what a PITA it was to find the right combination that: 1) didn't crash, 2) had decent IQ and no noticable game bugs, and 3) given the prior two requirements, performed the best. Also, 4) drivers compatible with whatever current version of MMC was out at the time and most stable.

The stock Catalyst drivers are good enough for me (with Radclocker installed of course). The extra 1 or 2 FPS in games from these tweaked drivers is not worth the trouble to me.

 Oh yeah, I installed the Omega 2.2 drivers yesterday. And... Doom 3 wouldn't start. Or HL2. Or CoD. So there you go, you can take your drivers back. Cat. 5.3 is fine for me.

Hi Fellows,

I?m REGENERATION from NGOHQ.com ? the manager of the NGO ATI Optimized driver project.
Recently our pal Angel (Omegadrive) has posted a message in his website.
And he mentions his economical situation and the fact that there is many copycats around.
I would like to refer to the copycat sentence. As a friend and a helper to Omegadrive. I agree with that.

If you didn?t know then NGO is supporting and helping Omega.

* ?Added a new option in the installer to select a faster OLG driver instead of just using the latest one, this driver runs Counter Strike like butter. 😀
Important note: The special OGL driver will NOT work on x800 cards. Many thanks to NGO for their input, this was their idea. 😉? - token from the Omega driver?s 2.5.51 readme.

* We are hosting Omega?s website for FREE over six months

My point is: Omega didn?t refer NGO as a copycat. He refers others and I will not mention who to avoid fights. But I agree with him!

I want to wish Angel (Omegadrive) the best! And hope he will pass the bad situation and I will help him with everything I can.

God bless you all

One a side note. The ?benchmark? should not be called that way, im sorry, but what you did was simply test all the drivers with ?ONE? synthetic benchmark. We mod drivers for gaming, not for synthetic benchmarks. Friendly advice, next time you post a ?benchmark? please do it in a proper way, if you want to use synthetic benchmarks, that?s fine, just please include gaming bench?s too. That way people can get a clear idea of what the drivers can really do. Thank you for your time, I?m sure that?s 3 hours of your life that won?t be coming back.

I am happy that what you are doing for Omega, but to be honest like i said i was using your NGO drivers over Omaga Driver and my game was freezing and lagging, but when i switched back to Omega it worked perfectly ok.

Could be a problem with your setup. Some sort of incompatibility.
I agree with what ngohq and RussianSensation said.
