A friend of mine is seriously considering an Athlon, but I have no clue whats the most stable/most solid/compatible and best priced motherboard to get? If you guys/gals can list the top 3 choices with their estimated price, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

I 2nd that notion on the K7T PRO2.
It would be the board I would get if I was making myself an AMD system.
You may also want to consider an EpoX 8KTA.

My vote would go for Asus A7V. While a lot of people writing about different problems with that board, it is one of the best boards out there. I've been using A7V on two computers so far for almost 4 months now and not a single problem with either one of them.

K7T Pro2A. You get the ATA100 support, incredible stability, and MSI quality behind it. I wouldn't settle for anything less. You can even get the new K7TM with Ultra160 SCSI built in if you're a SCSI kind of guy :)

ASUS A7V, Abit KT7, or MSI K7T PRO. Those are the top three. Any will do quite nicely. :)
