Best Athlon Motherboard?

SocketA or slotA? If you get socket A (which you should IMO) I'd say MSI k7t pro2 because it's stable, probably good quality (Msi boards usually are), has multiplier changer in the bios, and fairly cheap. Check these links no1 no 2

I'd go with MSI, that's what I have. Just head on over to the motherboards section of this board and listen to all the KT7 and A7V complaints....

MSi K7TPro2 if you want multiplier adjustments K7T Pro if you don't care.

The MSi baords are great stability/quality (Anandtech's webservers run on MSi K7TPro boards). They are alot cheaper than their Asus/ABit counterparts. The Asus board has to adjust the multipler with DIP switches, and while the ABit has software adjustment as well, the whole ABit Quality Control/RMA/Tech Support issues cause me to steer clear of ABit if I can, in this case the MSi K7TPro2 offers all the featurs of the ABit, at a lower price and with better tech support, should you need it (and without a $25 RMA charge, though an MSi board is less likely to need it).

All in all the K7TPro2 is hard to beat.

If you want SlotA there really aren't that many great motherboards...Asus K7V is probably the best slotA...but you should definately get SocketA unless you have some specific reason not to, and the MSi SocketA baords are excellent.

But if you are willing to hold out for some time yet, there will be DDR mobos coming up soon (before the end of this year perhaps?).

My KT7-RAID has been flawless for me, but if the K7T Pro 2 was available then, I probably would have gone with that since it was cheaper and had the same SoftMenu type setup.

i think he's asking for an athlon classic, heres all the possibilities:

1) Athlon Classic, Slot A: Asus K7v
2) Thunderbird slot a: Fic sd-11 or Asus k7m
3) Socket A, Duron/Tbird: asus A7v

I would get an Abit (KA7 or KT7). I would stay away from Asus. I have had horrible luck with them (including the K7M).

msi k7tpro 2, if its out. i used to have the k7pro for slot 1 that was a great board, and everyone says the k7tpro is great so the 2 version should be as well.
