Depends what you want and what you are going to do?

Overclock, gaming, want good hardware sound, etc... The a nForce2 board like the Abit NF7-S

Little to no overclocking, business software(Office, etc..), basic sound(or add on card), etc... the look at some KT600 boards. Abit alos has a decent KT600 board

ok, im looking for a gaming Mobo, and i havent decided about overclocking yet, but gaming is a must. I currently have 1 GB of PC2100 ram, is it time to upgrade or should i look for a mobo that is compatible with this?

what mobo would you recommend. (top of the line, and best mobo for my money, one of each please)

i have soundblaster audigy card and GeForce4 Ti4600 vid card, so please none with onboard video and onboard sound is not a must

Sell the ram and soundcard you have and get 2 slabs of PC3200 ram. Then get a Abit NF7-S board. It has GREAT soundstorm soundcard, and will do everything else you want.

PC2100 = 133Mhz = 266DDR
PC2700 = 166Mhz = 333DDR
PC3200 = 200Mhz = 400DDR

You can use the PC2100 ram but it will limit your CPU FSB and any overclocking you may want?

The Abit NF7-S is about $100 and is a GREAT board. Fast, stable, and one of the best overclockers out there, plus the sound is utterly amazing considering it's onboard. When I moved from an Asus A7N8X Deluxe (another good board) to the NF7-S I couldn't believe the difference in sound quality. I'd sell your RAM and Audigy and get PC3200/DDR400 RAM as stated above.

still wondering what lanparty is too...i see it has extra Ethernet port, what for? just direct connection to another computer?

would this one be good?

Most of the time you can set ur computer as a gateway.
So you have one port connected to the cable modem and the other port connected to another computer or a hub.
Basically lets you share internet connection while keeping a local area network.
Kinda serves as a basic free router.

Id choose the Abit over Gigabyte anyday IMHO.
