Some of the posts on networking look a little scary. I'd like to minimize problems when I set up a new wireless network and internet connection sharing in a couple of weeks. Here's the scenario -
I'm now running a phone line network with an WIN XP system as host and a WIN ME system as client. We share a dial-up internet connection at around 56K.
I plan to go to broadband cable and wireless networking and connection sharing. I intend to use the following devices:
Linksys Cable Modem model BEFCMU10
Linksys Wireless Router model BEFW11S4
One Linksys Wireless adapter WUSB11
Is it advisable to? remove both phoneline nic's before attempting to install anything else, and delete all network files and settings now operating on the host computer WIN XP and the client WIN ME. Remove the modem in the host computer and all pci modem drivers and files?
I'm guessing I may save myself some grief if I start the process clean. And also, is win XP going to pitch a fit and cause me to have to get re-acquainted with microsoft?
Thanks for any advice and pointers that will minimize setup grief.
