Best Antivirus program?
I've been using NAV for years. Seems to work however there have been times it found a virus and wasn't able to delete it or quarantine it. Can impact performance. Actually been using Norton Systemworks Pro for some time. Trying NSW Pro 2006 now. Doing a reformat of my system and thought I'd check on a possible new direction.

There's a long list of AV programs now. Which really do the job well and maybe come with a firewall. I have Comcast highspeed and they do offer free Mcafee Virus Scan, Firewall Plus and Privacy Service free of charge.

Any recommendations and/or thoughts?

Thanks!

The Consolodated Security Thread has a couple pages worth devoted to this topic. I'm not nice enough to give a direct link, though. It's stickied. Enlighten yourself.

Vote: Kaspersky AntiVirus 6.0 (try the free trial for 3 months!)

Antivir for me. Like Mango said, read the sticked Consolidated Security Thread. Really great info provided in there.

It really depends on what you like and what you are looking for in an anti-virus program. The best free anti-virus IMO is avast! The best non-free one being Kaspersky. NOD32 is another great option. it is really low on system resources and scans extremely fast.

I currently use avast!

aVg or AntiVir for the free cheap people like me... NOD32 for people who can afford to buy stuff.

Paid: Kasperesky and NOD32 coming in second last time I checked.

Free: Anti-vir along with Bitdefender Free as a back-up on demand scanner. (and Teatimer+/MS anti-spyware). Use that along with a limited account and you're more than sorted.

That said I'm using AVG and Bitdefender as backup because of AVG's low resource usage and the fact I just don't get infected by stuff. That and I have ad-aware, spybot, ms-antispyware, ewido, a-squared, bazooka, cw-shredder, anti-vir and hijackthis among others if I ever did. ;)
