I use Trend Micro's PC-cillin 2002, I haven't checked whether or not they have an upgrade or 2004 version but PC-cillin has outdone my old norton by a long shot. PC-cillin's real time monitors, web scan, and email scan program uses minimal resources and hasn't allowed a single email virus or other program onto my computer since installation. This version came with an ASUS motherboard I installed. p4c800-e Deluxe. hell i think thats where i got it...
 
AVG is still free for stand alone computers used in the home. Networked computers or business computers require a fee based AVG program. Still a good deal compaired to McGaff of Norton System hog.
